My amazing experience of the Confucius Grand Ceremony
On September 28th,2021. As a volunteer, I took part in Confucius Grand Ceremony, which was held in Qufu, Shandong Province. The event consisted of the opening ceremony, presenting flowers and reading the memorial, which were all so exciting to watch.
At 9 o’clock in the morning, a team of the experts and Confucius’ descendants overseas wearing yellow ribbons began to walk to the gate of Confucian Temple through the Maninsan Wall(万仞宫墙). When the worship team arrived at the gate, the drums began. And then the team entered the Temple of Confucius.
At 9:30 the worship team arrived at the Dacheng Hall. With the harmony music and dance, honored guests walked slowly to the statue of Confucius and presented the flower basket. The Confucius Grand Ceremony began. What an extraordinary scene! I was very excited!
Next the governor of the province read the memorial. All the guests straightened up and stood in silence, bowing to Confucius. My respect for Confucius sprang up. At about 10 o’clock, the ceremony ended.
I finally got back home at 6 pm, feeling tired, but it was worth it. The activity left a deep impression on me. Confucius culture is an important part of Chinese culture. It has not only shaped Chinese education but also has impacted the whole world.
