Dear Doctor Green, My relationship with my mother is worse and worse now. It seems she's never tired of talking. She talks here and there day and night. More seriously, I feel like we don't have much in common. She doesn't always understand what I'm trying to say. What should I do? Jim
Dear Jim, I know how you feel. It's not easy being your age and it's not easy being a mother, either. It's common for kids to have trouble talking with parents. And mothers who talk too much are not new to teenagers. But remember, she's nagging(唠叨)you because she just wants to know what's best for you. Talking is her way to show love and care. And she also wants to know more about you. After a day work, she's tired too. But she will never be tired of caring about you. Kids should learn to understand and care about parents. In my opinion, it's helpful to share school life with her: you talk and she listens. Doing some housework together with her is another good way for you to know each other better. And if possible, often tell her your feelings about the things around you. Always keep in mind when you tell her your feelings: be polite and patient. Dr. Green
56. What does Dr. Green think of Jim's problem
A. Usual.
B. Surprising.
C. Serious.
D. Difficult.
57. How many suggestions does Doctor Green give Jim
A. One. B. Two.
C. Three. D. Four.
58. What will Jim probably do after reading Dr. Green's letter
A. Study harder to make his teacher happy.
B. Do little housework for his mother .
C. Keep silent when his mother is nagging him.
D. Share school life with his mother and talk to her patiently.

One day after school, I went to the teacher's office to see my teacher, but nobody was there. As I was about to leave, I noticed a piece of paper on the floor. I picked it up and saw the words “FINAL TERM EXAMINATION” at the top. I put the paper into my schoolbag secretly and ran out of the room.
After I came back home, I took out the paper quickly. It was the exam paper of my worst subject, History. I felt excited. My heart beat fast. I took out my History book and started working on the answer. I had never answered any questions so seriously.
On the day of the History exam, I went into the exam hall confidently. When the paper was sent to me, I dreamt of getting the highest mark in the whole grade and could not help smiling. “My History teacher always encouraged me to work hard and get better grades, but I let him down time and time again. This time I will give him a big surprise,” I thought.
When the teacher said we could start, I turned the paper over. To my surprise, all the questions were different. Later I felt nervous. In the end, I almost left the paper undone. After the exam, I ran to the toilet, took out the paper and carefully read it from the top. Oh! It was last year's exam paper. I read all the questions but I didn't read the date.
This is a lesson in which I know I have to put my feet on the ground. I regretted doing such a silly thing. After that, I told my teacher the truth and I promised to be honest. From then on, I worked harder than ever before.

Early one October morning, a nice woman sent a young magpie (喜鹊) to my home for care. The magpie flew into the front window of a truck and got hurt, but luckily the woman was passing by.
With my care, the young magpie was doing well, but he was not happy to find himself in the cage (笼子). Several days later, his wings were fine and nothing else was broken. He recovered. I decided to drive him to where he was found. When I arrived, I got the cage out of the car and opened the door. I offered my arm. He jumped onto it and looked around. I could see he knew where he was.
Next to us was a tree. He flew straight to the top to join a wagtail (鹡鸰). The wagtail made lots of high singing and flew off across the field. The young magpie remained on the top of the tree. I began to worry as he still needed his parents.

My parents seldom encouraged me to ask for help, so I trained myself to become as independent as possible. I thought if I asked for help, I would be a problem to other people.
A few years ago, I was on a trip. In order to save money, I planned to stay in a stranger's house by Couchsurfing. When I arrived in the host's city, it was rainy and also very cold.
My host was very friendly. She gave a warm welcome and offered me a hot meal. After the meal, she invited me to go for a walk with her around her city. At that time, I didn't even have the right shoes for the bad weather. I wanted to ask her whether she had any shoes for me. But I didn't want to trouble her. Finally, I said nothing.
It was really cold outside, and the heavy rain made my shoes wet. When we got home three hours later, I had lost all feelings in my feet. That night, I had a bad cold. I had a high fever and a headache. That was all because I didn't ask for help. In fact, it was very easy.
From that day on, I tried hard to get over my fear of asking for help. It has taken me a long time. From my experience, I have discovered that people are always happy to offer help. And I have realized that asking for help is not a sign of weakness. It gives you the opportunity to discover the kindness of others.
67. What's the weather like when the writer arrived in the host's city

Everyone needs help sometimes. People depend on one another. That's why communities have special people ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it.
For example, what would we do without a community fire station? If a home catches fire, as the Jackson Place did last week, it might be burned down and people get hurt…or worse. We're so lucky to have firemen who come to save people and put out the fire, safely. If the firemen hadn't come so fast, the Jackson Place would have lost everything.
And what about our local police who protect our families, our homes and valuable things? The police have helped so many families this past year, especially in saving people and pets and protecting our houses and other things after the heavy rains.
Think about all the other service workers we have in this community. We have people who collect waste and rubbish and keep our community clean. We have road workers who put up and repair traffic signs and fix holes in the streets. They protect not just us, but our cars! And what will happen to this community without the teachers in our school and the doctors, and nurses in our community hospitals
Think again about what we eat every day;think again about what we wear every day. We cannot produce them, but we use them all the time. We get a lot from all these tireless workers who keep our community running. We need these people in the community. We depend on each other. Let's support each other and help each other. Only in this way can we make our community a better place.
70. What happened to the Jackson Place last week
A. The pets were lost.
B. The car was badly burnt.
C. The house caught fire.
D. The valuable things were stolen.
71. Who offered help to families after the heavy rains
A. Firemen. B. Doctors.
C. Road workers. D. Local police.
72. What is the best title for the passage
A. Policemen Save People's Lives
B. People Depend on Each Other
C. Service Workers Do Important Jobs
D. Workers Keep the Community Running

I went through some difficult times, dealing with the pressures of growing up. I found it hard to communicate with my mother. Relations between us became difficult.
One day, I ran away from home and stayed away for many hours. When I returned home at night, I saw all the pain, anger and disappointment on my mother's face. Amazingly enough, it felt like all the anger inside me went away from my body. We agreed to have breakfast together the next morning. It would be a turning point in both of our lives and our relationship.
We decided to go to a restaurant. On our way to the table I noticed my mother had two notebooks. I asked her what they were for. She explained to me that sometimes it would be easier to write down our feelings rather than talk about them. We would write down our feelings in the form of a letter. It could be as long or as short as we wanted.
Our first topic was “Why am I so angry?” I wrote a half page, and my mom filled up nearly three pages. I watched tears run down her face as she wrote. After we finished writing, we exchanged our notebooks. When we finished reading, we discussed our feelings. Our talk helped me realize so many things I had never thought of before, not only about my mother but also about other people.
My mother and I continue to use our notebooks as a way of communicating our anger and worries, and our happiness as well. We know that no matter how we feel about each other, our notebooks are a safe place to express our feelings. We have come to an agreement that at the end of each letter we write, “I love you. ”

I'd like to tell you my idea. From now on, I have decided not to ask you for pocket money any more. I'm 15 years old now, and I think I can make some pocket money by myself. But I don't know what to do. I hope to get a job in your supermarket to make my own pocket money. I want to work on Saturday or Sunday every week. Maybe you will say no to me. But in Western countries, many students can get their jobs easily in supermarkets, restaurants or stores. They don't ask their parents for pocket money and they make it by themselves. I hope you can give me such a chance, OK
Yours,
Li Lei

Alex, you shouldn't spend hours playing football after school or hanging out late. You should go back earlier. You can help your parents do some chores. You can do the dishes or sweep the floor.
