Of course, she wasn't really my aunt and, out of fear, I never called her that to her face. I only referred to her as “My Aunt Fannie” because the name always made my father laugh quietly and gave my mother cause to look strictly at both of us — at me for being disrespectful of my elder and at my father for encouraging my bad behavior. I enjoyed both reactions, so I looked for every opportunity to work the name into as many conversations as possible.
As a young woman, my mother had worked in the kitchen of a large Victorian farmhouse. During those years, my mother helped Aunt Fanny make the best blueberry jam ever tasted by anyone in Glenfield. She was well-known for her jam and for never sharing the recipe with others. Even though my mother knew the recipe by heart, as long as Aunt Fannie was alive, she never made the jam without Aunt Fannie in our kitchen to direct the process and keep the secret.
Each August, my mother would prepare me for Aunt Fannie's visit. One year, after I had helped with the jam process, Aunt Fannie gave me a coin and then made me promise that I would never spend it. “Hold onto this coin," she said, “and someday you will be rich. I still have my very first coin, given to me by my grandmother.” So, I kept the coin in a small box and waited to become rich.
I now have the blueberry jam recipe and the coin from Aunt Fannie. In people's eyes Aunt Fannie's success resulted from that secret recipe. But to me, it was just a common recipe. Neither have made me become a rich person, but I keep them as reminders to hold onto the valuable things in life. Money can make you feel rich for a while, but it is the relationships and the memories of time spent with friends and family that truly leave you wealthy. And that is a fortune that anyone can build.
24.Why did the author always use the name “My Aunt Fannie" in conversations
A.She liked Aunt Fannie's recipe. B.She was frightened of Aunt Fannie.
C.She enjoyed her parents ’reactions. D.She greatly respected “Aunt Fannie".

A.hold onto the first coin in life B.make as many friends as possible
C.make money with their own hands D.spend more time with family and friends
27.What could be the best title for this passage
A.The Key to Success B.Blueberry Jam Recipe
C.A Fortune Built from a Coin D.A Relationship of Trust

Getting old might not be something that's yet to cross your mind. But aging is going to defeat us one day, so it's something we'd all like to control.
It would be great to have a long, healthy and happy life, and that's why scientists are constantly seeking out what we need to do to achieve it. We all know that regular exercise is good for us. But the latest piece of research might put a spring in your step if you're someone who walks at a fast pace. That's because the speed at which people walk in their 40s is a sign of how much their brains and their bodies are aging.
The BBC's Philippa Roxby writes that tests on 1,000 people found that slower walkers tended to show signs of "accelerated aging”. Their lungs, teeth and immune systems were in worse shape than those walking faster. The study also found not only did slower walkers bodies age more quickly, their faces looked older and they had smaller brains.
This might be seen as a wake-up call for people with a slower pace to work out and get fitter. But it might be too late;researchers say they were able to predict the walking speed of 45-year-olds using the results of intelligence, language and motor (运动)skills tests from when they were aged three. They also suggest that even in early life, there are signs showing which people will have a healthier life.
So, what's the point of knowing that a slower walking pace might mean a smaller brain Researchers say measuring walking speed at a younger age and understanding what this might mean could be a way of testing treatments to slow human aging.
28. Why do scientists keep on studying
A. To help people live a better life. B. To achieve their goals.
C. To find ways to stop aging. D. To find out who can live longer.
29. How did the researchers get the result
A. By analyzing data. B. By doing experiments in the lab.
C. By doing surveys. D. By carrying out tests on people.
30. The findings can be used to .
A. treat certain illnesses B. find ways to slow aging
C. make people work harder D. urge people to walk slowly
31. Where is the text most likely from
A. A diary. B. A guidebook.
C. A novel. D. A magazine.

Imagine this: You’re at the movies seeing the latest box-office hit. The leading actor chases down the film’s bad guy before winning over the beautiful leading lady. What does he do next He sucks on a cigarette.
What’s wrong with this picture Doesn’t the beautiful woman see her hero’s yellow teeth Doesn’t she smell his smoky breath And wouldn’t the good guy have trouble chasing, since smoking causes a person to cough
But you don’t see any of that when someone smokes cigarettes in the movies. And there is a lot of smoking in movies. Actors light up in more than 50 percent of youth-rated (G, PG, PG-13) movies, according to the American Legacy Foundation, which aims to put an end to smoking among young people. That means that Hollywood is showing 14 billion images of smoking to young people every year.
All that exposure to on-screen smoking can influence teens to smoke. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) argues that 44 percent of teens who begin smoking do so because they’ve seen smoking in movies. The CDC reports that teens are two to three times more likely to start smoking after seeing repeated smoking scenes in movies than teens who are lightly exposed to smoking in movies.
Several organizations are working to remove smoking in youth-rated movies. And adults are not the only ones who care about this issue. Many teens are actively involved. Livia Clandorf, 16, of Chatham, New York, is a member of Reality Check, an organization that educates teens about what it considers to be the manipulative(巧妙处理的) practices of tobacco companies. Livia participated in an event called a “movie stomp(跺脚)”. Reality Check rents out a movie theater and screens a youth-rated film that shows smoking, they stomp their feet and show disapproval by shouting “boo”.
32.What purpose does Paragraph 1 serve in the passage
A.To provide background information of a movie.
B.To attract readers’ attention to the topic.
C.To describe a plot(情节) in a movie.
D.To offer some basic knowledge of cigarette.
33.What is the picture you are asked to imagine like according to the author
A.It’s touching. B.It’s beautiful.
C.It’s frightening. D.It’s unreasonable.
34.What can be inferred from the CDC’s words
A.Over 50 percent of teens smoke. B.Teens should watch more movies.
C.Many movies cause teens to smoke. D.Teens are less likely to smoke than adults.
35.When will participants in a “movie stomp” stomp their feet
A.When they are active. B.When they are excited.

B篇【分析】

(Text 1)
W: Would you like to go to Emsworth Shopping Center with me on Saturday
M: OK. Can we go by bicycle
W: It's too far. Let's get the bus there and a taxi back.
M: Fine.
(Text 2)
M: Keys, bus tickets, change ... No, everything's here except what I need
W: And what's that
M: My pen! I had it a few minutes ago, but I can't find it now!
(Text 3)
M: Shall we have a dancing party on Friday
W: Oh, no.
M: Then how about a picnic in the woods
W: I'm afraid the weather is a bit too cold at this time of year. I'd rather stay at home and read a novel.
(Text 4)
M: Would you like some hot coffee or tea
W: 1 like them both, but I'd rather have cold water at the moment
(Text 5)
W: Someone left a history book in class today.
M: Maybe the person put his or her name on it.
W There's no name. But look at the drawings all over it. There's only one person who's this artistic.
(Text6)
W: I hear you’ve moved. Where are you living now
M: It's quite close to you, actually. We’ve got a fourth floor flat in Kennet Road.
W: Oh, I know it. It's a small block next to the post office.
M: You’re thinking of Danwell Garders. We're opposite, just by the park,
W: So the best school in this area is your neighbor. That would be fantastic.
M: Yeah. But the lift doesn't work, so we have to use the stairs all the time.
W: Well, that's good exercise. It's better than paying a lot of money to use the gym!
(Text7)
M: Mum, my old bicycle needs to be repaired again.
W: Well then, why don’ t you just think of buying a new one
M: You know, I'd really like to buy one of those mountain bikes. But they cost too much. At least
$300.
W: But what's so special about a mountain bike Why do you have to have one of those There
aren’t any mountains around here. Isn't a common bike cheaper
M: Yes. You can also get good ones for about $150.
W: Well, that sounds reasonable. If you can save $100, I'll give you the rest. That way you'll be riding a new bike in a few months. Go and get your old one repaired.
M: Thanks, Mum. I suppose I just have to ride my old bike for a little longer.
(Text 8)
M: I'm sorry, I'm late again. The traffic was terrible.
W: Well, that's OK. But the schoolmaster wants to see you. He asked about you this morning.
M: Oh, that's too bad. I am going to see him now.
W: You'd better go and see him after 10:00. He isn't in his office. He is having a meeting in the meeting room now.
M: To tell the truth, Mrs. Wilson, I don't want to be late. But you see, the traffic is always so heavy. How can I not be late
W: You should get up earlier.
M: It's no use. Every time the alarm clock rings, I stop it. You know, it's difficult for me to wake up that early.
W: Why don't you buy a bike That would be faster.
M: I guess so.
(Text 9)
W: Jack, just come and look at this amazing painting.
M: Well, let me see. Yeah, it is really amazing, but what is it exactly
W: It's a Picasso! It looks really strange. Don't you think so
M: That's true. It’s strange but beautiful. What is it called
W: Let me see...this one is Les Demoise de Avignon, and it was painted in 1907.
M: 1907 That's over one hundred years ago, but this work looks so modern! He's a great artist.
W: Well, he was born in 1881. And he died when he was 92. It seems that he had a long life.
M: Yeah. I heard that he had many girlfriends who he often painted. And he had many children.
W: Yes, that's true. But I think he only married twice. His true love was a lady called Jacqueline, who he married in 1961.
(Text 10)
W: OK, everyone. That's it for this year. I hope you’ve enjoyed your course and feel that you’ve learned a lot. Here’s is a booklet with some tips on how to do in an exam. Before we 1ook at that, can I also mention a few general points about preparing for an exam Fist of all, when you're reviewing the lesson, don't do lots of all at once. Don't do lots of practice tests, either. Of course, it's good to do some practice tests but, after a certain point, you don't learn anything new. Secondly, don't go to a party the night before. You need to be fresh so that you can think quickly in the exam. Thirdly, don't be late for the exam. But last year one student was two minutes late and he wasn't allowed into the exam room. OK. now, once you re in the exam...
