第一部分 阅读理解(共两节,满分50分)
第一节 (共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
Understand your directional future, and plan ahead, but most of all plan a life which is full of excitement and a life which you'll enjoy living.
As the manager of the World Youth Organization, I must say, "It is not quite easy to get this position." My parents have always been top supporters for my educational progress rather than my true passion, which of course is the World Youth Organization. There have been many arguments when it comes to the controversial(有争议的) topics. Time after time I have to protect my belief and hope it will come true one day.
Proving one wrong, especially your parents, is a tough ride. But when you love something, you constantly put up a fight. You stand for what you believe in, which is one of the most important aspects of life. Any parent or career would require too much. "You must go to university", "You will not get anywhere without that degree". All of those sentences make the perfect sense, when you're dreaming of becoming a nurse, doctor, teacher or scientist, or a career path which requires that important degree. But I believe what many parents see is that when one has the degree, he/she is automatically set on the right path of life.
However, when the truth is bitter(令人痛苦的), it doesn't always go smoothly. If I am not full of passion, will I lead a happy life Possibly. Will I be true to myself No. However, if you are enthusiastic about the subject you study, you are willing to do everything to make it a reality.
A person can take many paths in life and you just need to find the best one for yourself. I strongly agree with considering something to fall back on just in case plan A doesn't go well. Stick with your passion as plan A, unless staying in college can ensure that you are going to be okay in the future.
Follow your passion, be prepared to work hard, be devoted and above all, don't let anyone limit your dreams.
1. Which of the following can cause a fight between you and your parents in the writer's view
A. You go to university. B. You listen to your parents.
C. You hold on to your belief. D. You study hard for the degree.
2. What is the most important thing in exciting life, according to the last paragraph
A. Love. B. Hard work. C. Devotion. D. Independence.
3. What is the best title for the passage
A. Always Stick with Your Passion as Plan A
B. A Generation Gap Between Children and Parents
C. The Importance of Gaining a Degree
D. Attempt to Make a Dream a Reality
B
I think that a great friend is like a great artist who can change my feeling about life greatly. When I talk about the person who influenced(影响) me most, I must think of my best friend quickly.
When I was in my university, one of my classmates sat beside me. His name is Wang Tao. He is my unforgettable friend in my life. He is good at study and handsome. Everyone knows that he is a genius (天才) of my university. Besides, he is kind-hearted and is always ready to help others.
I remembered that my maths was poor at that time, but he was excellent in solving(解决) maths questions. He often got high scores. Since we talked all day long, he was patient and polite to answer my maths questions. Slowly, I made great progress. I passed the examination finally. Then we became friends naturally.
We know that we live in a society, so we need a lot of friends. There are two kinds of friends, good and bad. Bad friends may make our life failed, while good ones make our life successful. To me, Wang Tao is a very good friend. I learned so many lessons from him, and I became more and more excellent.
We separated three months ago. Now I miss him very much, and I hope that our friendship will continue to be just as strong after we graduate.

People like to celebrate when they move into a new home. Maybe it' s the first flat someone has owned, a couple' s first home since getting married or maybe a growing family has moved to a bigger house. For whatever reason, the home is new. It represents a change and an exciting new beginning, with walls to paint, rooms to decorate and neighbors to meet. And what better way to meet people than to throw a party
Parties to celebrate moving into a new home are called "house-warming" or "flat-warming" parties. If you think about it, they are appropriate names because an empty house with no people or furniture in it is a cold shell of a place. A house full of people, on the other hand, often requires some open windows or air conditioning to keep from getting too hot.
So what are house-warming parties like Usually, the hosts invite their new neighbors as well as their friends. They usually provide some food and drinks and guests usually bring house-warming gifts. The gift might be something for the house, like a plant, or something for the guests to share, like a bottle of wine. There may be a dress code or theme. For example, if it is a "Hat Party", people will wear unusual or funny hats. This helps break the ice by making people laugh. This makes it easier to meet new people and creates a fun and cheerful atmosphere.
There' s an old saying that home is where the heart is. When people throw a house-warming party, they' re opening their hearts as well as their homes to the people around them. So if you' re ever invited by new neighbors to a house-warming, go! Then invite them to your home another time. Your home might already be warm, but new friends are the surest way to warm your heart.

A. finding a new job B. having a new baby
C. getting married D. moving into a new home

A. It's the opposite of a house-cooling party.
B. A house or flat with people in it seems to be lively.
C. When people drink wine at these parties they get very warm.
D. At these parties there is always a fire that people sit around to warm themselves.
3. What does the underlined phrase "break the ice" mean in a social situation
A. It means to get conversation flowing(流畅).
B. It means to make a hole in the ice through which to fish.
C. It means conversation is very difficult because people don' t know each other.
D. It means the atmosphere at a house-warming party is very cold and unfriendly.
4. Why does the writer suggest that you invite people to your home
A. It can show your politeness to your neighbors.
B. Everyone should have a house-warming.
C. Making new friends will make you happy.
D. Inviting them will warm up your cold house.

When Swiss watch boss, Christoph Grainger-Herr, was unable to fly to a global trade show because of Covid-19 restrictions, he decided to join the show as a life-size, 3D hologram(全息投影). Appearing in 4K resolution, he was able to talk to, and see and hear the people who were physically attending the event.
With the coronavirus pandemic having put a stop to much global travel since March 2020,there is a growing interest in the use of holograms—3D light projections(投影) of a person—as amore life-like, more immersive, more sensory alternative to video calls.
Los Angeles-based Portl is one of the firms at the forefront of the technology. Its portals(投影设备) are eight feet (2.5m) tall, glass-fronted, computerised boxes. Inside the booths a life-size hologram of a person appears. The portals have built-in speakers, so that the hologram's "voice" can be heard. They also include cameras and microphones so that the user of the hologram can see and hear the people in front of his, or her projection. "And were it not for the sheet of glass in front of the hologram, you'd think the person was actually there. In fact, if there is no light on the glass so that you cannot see it reflecting, then you do think the person is actually there." says Mr Nussbaum, the boss of US holograms firm Portl.
The portals cost about $60,000 each, so they are certainly expensive, although the company says they can be rented for considerably less. "In a few years' time, this is going to become a regular way of communicating between offices," says Mr Nussbaum.
Yet, he cautions that problems may occur in the future if these holographic images become so real that distinguishing them from an actual person will become impossible. "If you can create digital experiences that get closer and closer to how you sense reality, you're more likely to be manipulated(操控)," says Mr Nussbaum.
Mr Nussbaum says he is confident that hologram technology is going to replace standard video screens in video conferencing in five years. He also predicts that it will see off video information screens. "This will be the new way that businesses will want to present their content whether live or recorded."
1. What is the function of the first paragraph
A. To give an example. B. To present an argument.
C. To lead to the main topic. D. To attract readers' attention.
2. What can we learn about the portals
A. They are life-size glass boxes. B. They have a built-in computer.
C. They reduce light reflection on the glass. D. They consist of audio and video equipment.
3. What can we expect of the hologram technology in the future
A. It will record live conference automatically.
B. It is helpful in telling an actual person from a digital one.
C. It will possibly take the place of conventional screens.
D. It is not likely to popularise due to high cost of the portals.
4. What is the main purpose of the passage
A. To explain the function of hologram technology.
B. To compare video calls with hologram technology.
C. To introduce hologram technology as a communication means.
D. To show the importance of hologram technology in communication.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Yesterday, when I arranged my old things, I found a friendship bracelet with several names on it. Looking at it, all those old memories came flooding back to me.
It was when I was a freshman in high school. My only close friend was Sabella, who I had known since kindergarten. Bella is and always will be one of my best friends. But she had other close friends too. However, I didn't. I was on the volleyball team, and on the court I knew exactly who I was and where I was supposed to be. I loved all of my teammates, but when we were sitting together before and after games I would just sit there quietly, totally unsure of myself. So I felt never really fit in.
At school, it seemed like the only time anyone talked to me was just to jokingly say, "You are so quiet...Do you ever talk " I wanted to talk; I just couldn't find the words. I never felt like I knew what to say in a big group of people.
One Saturday after our game, Bella was supposed to come over and spend the night at my house. We always had a lot of fun together. I wished that I could talk to the other girls in the way I talked to her. But before we left the gym that day, some of the other volleyball girls invited her to go to the movies with them. Since Bella had already made plans with me, they asked if I would like to go to the movies with them too.
One of the moms drove us, and we all piled into the back seat of her Suburban—Rhiannon, Destinee, Christine, Sabella and me. I was kind of nervous at first, but once it was just us five, I came out of my shell. For the first time in my life, I really felt like I was a part of the conversation, instead of just sitting there listening. It turned out that I had a lot to say, which even surprised me. All the way there, and all the way back, we talked and laughed.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;

2.细节理解题。根据第三段"They also include cameras and microphones so that the user of the hologram can see and hear the people in front of his, or her projection. (它们还包括照相机和麦克风,这样全息图的使用者可以看到和听到他或她的投影前面的人。)"可知,投影设备里面是有视频和音频设备的。故选D项。
3.推理判断题。根据第三段"Mr Nussbaum says he is confident that hologram technology is going to replace standard video screens in video conferencing in five years.(Mr Nussbaum相信全息技术将在五年内取代视频会议中的标准视频屏幕。)"可知,全息投影技术是可能在未来取代传统的视频屏幕的。replace和take the place of 是同义词。故选C项。
