并列复合句
一、概况
定义:指包含两个或两个以上互不相依的主谓结构的句子。
基本结构:简单句+并列连词+简单句
考点介绍:and,or,but的区别
二、并列连词前后简单句之间的关系:
1. 并列关系
表示先后关系、递进关系,常用的连接词为and。前后分句的时态往往保持一致,若第一个分句是祈使句,那么第二个分句用将来时。如:
They are watching TV and the others are listening to the radio. 他们在看电视,其他人在听广播。

动动脑筋,你就会找到办法。
2. 选择关系
表示在两者之间选择一个,常用的连接词为or。前后分句的时态往往保持一致,若第一个分句是祈使句,那么第二个分句用将来时。如:
The children can go with us, or they can stay at home.
孩子们可以跟我们走,也可以待在家里。
You must tell the truth, or you will be punished.
你必须说实话,否则你会受到惩罚的。
3. 转折关系
表明两个概念彼此有矛盾、相反或者转折,常用的连接词为but,前后分句时态一致。如:
He was tired, but he didn't stop working.
他感到疲惫,但是没有停止工作。
注意:1. 并列复合句有时不用连接词,只在两个简单句之间用一个逗号或分号隔开。如:
We fished all day; we didn't catch a fish.
我们钓了一整天鱼,但我们一条也没钓到。
2. 并列连词后的简单句如果与其前的简单句有相同的部分,则相同的部分常可省略。如:
My father works in a factory and goes to work by bike everyday. 我父亲在工厂工作,每天骑自行车上班。

Summer camps
Summer camps for children are very popular in many countries. In Canada and the US, some of the summer camps are in the countryside or on lakes.
