Thank you very much. Thank you!
Thank you Principal Xu, all the teachers and most importantly, the class of 2021. If I can't make my speech wonderful, I will at least try to make it short.
It’s been nearly 40 years ____1____ I became a member of the navy. You may be wondering how I have won so many honors as a commander-in-chief. In fact it all began from the ____2____ basic training which I will never forget. The training included midnight swims in the cold water, days without sleep and long painful runs in the soft sand. I always felt cold, wet, ____3____ and painful.
The training also needed to find those who could lead in an environment of stress, mess, failure and hardships. To me, the basic training was a lifetime of challenges that lasted six months. And today, I’d like to talk about one little thing, ____4____ I think is one of the most important points leading to great ____5____ .
Every morning in the training, my instructors would appear in ____6____ rooms. The first thing they did was ____7____ our beds. The corners would be square if we ____8____ it right. The covers would be pulled tight, and the pillow would be centered just under the headboard.
It was a simple task. But every morning we were required to make our beds perfectly. It seemed a little ____9____ , but the wisdom of this simple act ____10____ to me many times over.
If you make your bed every morning, you will have completed the first task of the day. It will bring you a small sense of success, and it will invite you to do ____11____ task, and one by one. And by the end of the day, one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will prove the fact. If you can’t do the little things right, you will hardly be able to do the big things ____12____ .
Changing the world can happen anywhere and anyone can do it. I can make sure it doesn’t matter ____13____ I ever served a day in uniform. Even now, I still start my day with making the bed to perfection. So if you have an awful day by accident, you will come home to a bed that is made-that you made-and a made bed gives you encouragement that tomorrow will be ____14____ .
____15____ general, if you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. I hope all of you will have a brighter future!

This Sunday, I stopped walking and went over to her. As I got closer, I realized that there were three turtles(乌龟), slowly walking around the base of the metal cage. She had a fourth turtle on her knee that she was carefully wiping with a brush, which made me feel surprised.
“Hello, ” I said. “If you don’t mind my nosiness, I’d love to know what you’re doing with these turtles.”
“I’m cleaning off their shells,” she replied.
“Anything on a turtle’s shell weakens the turtle’s ability to take in heat and blocks its ability to swim. It can also impair and weaken the shell over time.”
She went on, “I spend a couple of hours each Sunday morning, relaxing by this lake and helping these little guys out. It’s my own strange way of making a difference.”
“Well then, don’t you think your time could be better spent And 99% of these turtles don’t have kind people like you to help them clean off their shells. So, how exactly are your efforts here truly making a difference ”

Looking at art should be like walking in the countryside. You may not know exactly where you are, what bird is making that strange sound, or what the hill ahead of you is called, but that's part of the fun of it. You don't need to know these things to feel the beauty of nature.
Of course, if you do know your birds, trees and local history, a walk can be more attractive. Yet such knowledge comes slowly. It is picked up through experience. A true knowledge of nature cannot just be given to you through an app on your phone. Imagine pointing your phone at the hill and getting plenty of information on screen. Would that enrich your dreamy walk or ruin(毁灭) it
Braggarts enjoy an app that allows them to show off their knowledge, for example, about baroque (巴洛克风格的) paintings. In fact, apps in museums try to provide on-screen art history at once just to encourage people to read their phones instead of looking at paintings
It is a mistaken idea that you need to be spoon-fed amazing facts about a work of art in order to appreciate (欣赏) it. Our first experience of a work of art should be raw(自然状态的), unguided, and a bit puzzling, like following a path in the woods. Later, you might choose to do some personal research into the work. It can further increase your enjoyment and appreciation for it, Yet it is best done when you're away from the art itself, so that even when you return, the work still feels fresh.
Anyone who thinks knowing some dates and details makes you better understand a work of art is wrong. We all need to put aside our screens and our supposed knowledge when we look at art. Let the paintings flow in; let your intuitions (直觉) fly off. Art is a journey in the wilderness or it is nothing at all
29. What does the writer mainly want to say
A. Art is best with the help of apps.
B. Art is best when hidden in mystery.
C. Art is nothing compared with nature.
D. Art is nothing when details and facts are known.
30. The underlined word "braggarts" refers to(指) ________.
A. people who like showing off
B. people who like baroque paintings
C. those who are good at appreciating art
D. those who are good at painting with phones
31. What's the main idea of Paragraph 4
A. How to appreciate a work of art
B. How to personal research into a work of art
C. How to keep your feelings about a work of art fresh.
D. How to be spoon-fed amazing facts about a work of art
32. What can we infer (推断) from the passage
A. Because of apps, art will be ruined in the future.
B. A good piece of art is usually made about nature
C. Research work and intuitions can both help understand art
D. Museums are not supposed to allow the use of mobile phones

32.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“Later, you might choose to do some personal research into the work. It can further increase your enjoyment and appreciation for it”选择对艺术作品做一些研究,能进一步增加对艺术的欣赏,及最后一段“let your intuitions fly off”让你的直觉飞出来。可知研究和直觉都能帮助理解艺术。故选C。

Last night one of my Chinese friends took me to a concert of Chinese folk music. The piece which was played on the erhu especially moved me. The music was strangely beautiful, but under the beauty I sensed a strong sadness and pain. The piece had a simple name, Erquan Yingyue (Moon Reflected on Second Spring), but it was one of the most moving pieces of music that I’ve ever heard. The erhu sounded so sad that I almost cried along with it as I listened. Later I looked up the history of Erquan Yingyue, and I began to understand the sadness in the music.
The music was written by Abing, a folk musician who was born in the city of Wuxi in 1893. His mother died when he was very young. Abing’s father taught him to play many musical instruments, such as the drums, dizi and erhu, and in the year of 1910, Abing was known for his musical ability. However, after his father died, Abing’s life grew worse. He was very poor. Not only that, he developed a serious illness and became blind. For several years, he had no home. He lived on the streets and played music to make money. Even after Abing got married and had a home again, he continued to sing and play on the streets. He performed in this way for many years.
Abing’s amazing musical skills made him very popular during his lifetime. By the end of his life, he could play over 600 pieces of music. Many of these were written by Abing himself. It is a pity that only six pieces of music in total were recorded for the future world to hear, but his popularity continues to this day. Today, Abing’s Erquan Yingyue is a piece which all the great erhu masters play and praise. It has become one of China’s national treasures. Its sad beauty not only paints a picture of Abing’s own life but also makes people recall their deepest wounds(伤口) from their own sad or painful experiences.
33. When was Abing known for his musical ability
A. When he was very young. B. When he was 17 years old.
C. After he became blind. D. After he got married.
34. Which is NOT the reason why Abing’s music sounds sad
A. His father died and he was very poor.
B. He lost his eyesight because of his illness.
C. Only 6 pieces of his music were recorded.
D. He lost his mother when he was very young.
35. We can probably play the music Erquan Yingyue ________.
A. in wedding parties B. during the Spring Festival
C. on the Qingming Festival D. on Christmas
36. What’s the correct order of the following events
a. Abing got married and had a home.
b. Abing got a serious illness and became blind.
c. Abing’s mother died when he was a child.
d. Abing learned to play many musical instruments from his father.
e. Abing wrote many pieces of music and he could play over 600 pieces.
A. a b d c e B. c d b a e C. c d b e a D. a b c a e

During the two sessions(两会), people around the world talk about China. Have you ever wondered what topics Generation Z (people born 1995-2009) are most interested in In March 2022, China Daily did a survey on topics of the two sessions to see what interests Generation Zers most. Let’s take a look.
Among all topics, “ mental health” got the most votes (投票). “ Spreading traditional culture” (83%) followed closely. The top choice is not unexpected. Reports on mental health problems of teenagers have increased in recent years. The rate of depression ( 抑郁) among them was nearly 25%. The attention they give to mental health shows that they care for their own well-being. When they don’t feel well, they dare to speak out and ask for help.
Although Generation Zers are young, they understand the power of traditional culture. They believe that China is deeply rooted in traditional culture and would like to spread it to the world. Zhao Yan, a junior 2 student from Liaoning Riwan Middle School, said, “ My school set up many clubs to help students understand the importance of traditional culture. I join a paper-cutting workshop and a hanfu club. I have learned a lot. I made a tiger-shaped paper-cutting. It has not only helped me practise my handwork skills but also let me know the beauty of art. It’s our duty to pass this great art to future generations.”
Instead of only focusing on themselves, Generation Zers also set their eyes on social problems. Kevin Xu, a 16-year-old boy from Shenzhen, told the reporter. “I care about the prevention and control measures (防治措施) of COVID-19. I’m now studying in the UK. In February, the UK government ended quarantine (隔离) rules. It means that COVID-19 patients can go out. This would never happen in China! I think China’s “ dynamic zero-case” policy ( 动态清零政策) sounds more responsible. A country should protect its people in a pandemic.”
People seem to know little about Generation Zers. Thanks to this survey, we are able to take a closer look at “what Generation Zers care about” and paint a picture of what they are like.
37. What does the author mean by saying, “ The top choice is not unexpected.”
A. It is delighted to find teenagers pay attention to their own health.
B. The author is surprised that the mental health problems of teenagers are serious.
C. The author is surprised that the rate of depression is unexpectedly high.
D. It’s known to all that the mental health problems of teenagers are serious.

Every Sunday morning I take a walk around a park near my home. There’s a lake in one corner of the park. Each time I walk by this lake, I see the same elderly woman sitting at the water’s edge with a small metal cage(笼子)beside her.
The woman smiled, then looked down at the turtle on her knee, wiped off the last piece of algae(海藻), and said, “Sweetie, he’d tell you I just made all the difference in the world.”

D

38. According to the third paragraph, what is Zhao Yan like
A. Creative and artistic. B. Lazy and selfish.
C. Impolite and unsocial. D. Intelligent and expressive.
39. What can we infer(推断) from the fourth paragraph
A. Kevin Xu studies in the UK and he is satisfied with everything there.
B. Kevin Xu agrees with the control measures of COVID-19 in the UK.
C. Kevin Xu thinks China’s “ dynamic zero-case” policy is a wise decision.
D. Kevin Xu thinks it’s fine for COVID-19 patients to go out.
40. What is the structure of this passage
A. ①—②③④⑤ B. ①—②③④—⑤
C. ①—②③—④⑤ D. ①—②—③④—⑤
