When I was not adding little things to my new home, I was busy learning about the animals and plants on the island and about myself.
I discovered that the birds that lived in holes and rocks were good to eat.
One day I found an old bag and I wanted to use it to store things. Some old corn fell out of this bag and made roots in the dirt. Soon green barley grew from the seeds. When I saw these plants, I cried. They reminded me of England. When I was young. I wanted to leave England for a life of adventures at sea, but now I was trapped alone. I only wanted to return.
One day, when I was sitting by my little cave, I heard a terrible noise. The next moment much dirt care falling down the hill. There was so much of it that I was afraid it would swallow me! I ran away and climbed over my fence using a ladder I had made. I realized that the island was being hit by a terrible earthquake.
The earthquake soon ended, but then a terrible storm began. The sea became black and violent and full of huge waves that crashed onto the beach. Thunder roared and lightning hit the water. The storm lasted for three hours, but when it finished, it began to rain. This was not the gentle, calm rain of England. It rained so hard that I had to cut a hole in my fence to let the water pour out. Otherwise, my house would have been drowned, and me with it!

The traditional Chinese lunar calendar divides a year into 24 solar terms(节气). “Chunfen" is one of them. Here are some interesting things about it.
Swallows fly back
The ancient Chinese divided the fifteen days of “Chunfen” into three pentads(候), each of which has five days. As the saying goes, “The dark birds(swallows) arrive in the first pentad, thunder sounds in the second pentad, and lightning begins in the third pentad.”
Fly kites
It is a good time to fly kites. In ancient times, people did not have good medical resources. So to pray for health, they wrote their medical problems on paper kites. When the kite was in the air, people would cut off the string to let the paper kite float away, symbolizing the flying away of diseases.
Later flying kites developed into a popular spring game. People wrote nice words on the kite and hoped that their faraway friends would see them.
Eat spring vegetables
Eating spring vegetables during it is a commonly practiced custom in many parts of China. And it’s said that it will bring people luck. In fact, “spring vegetables” refer to seasonal vegetables that are different from place to place. And people eat seasonal foods to help keep healthy.
Reward farm cattle
This practice is popular to the south of the Yangtze River. As it comes, farm work starts and farmers and cattle start 10 have lots of work to do. Farmers will reward and thank cattle with sticky rice balls.

Once some thieves stole a valuable teapot from a museum in Hong Kong, China. They took the teapot to America, but the American police found it. The museum sent Mr Chan, a member of the museum staff, to collect the teapot. On the plane back to Hong Kong, China. he noticed two men. They were watching him closely. “Perhaps they’re going to steal the valuable teapot. I must think of a plan,” he thought.
Mr Chan’s daughter, Amy, met him at the airport in Hong Kong, China after his plane arrived. Mr Chan was carrying two boxes. He gave his daughter the pink box and said to her in a low voice, “Take this gift box home with great care. ” He walked away with the brown one. The two men followed him.
Amy opened the box at home. She was expecting a pair of sports shoes, but she just found an old teapot. “This is not a very interesting gift,” said Amy, a bit disappointed. “Let’s make some tea in it,” said her mother. Then they found a note in the teapot. It said, “Dear Amy, ______ Love, Dad. ”
The two men kidnapped Mr Chan who was on his way to the museum. They opened his box and found a pair of sports shoes inside. “Where’s the teapot ” the two men shouted at the top of their voice with red faces. “We saw you give your daughter a box at the airport. Is the teapot in that box Take us to your home, now!” one of them said.
When the two men entered Mr Chan’s flat, it was dark and quiet. All of a sudden, the door closed and the lights went on. The police were waiting inside.
Amy and her mother came out of the bedroom with the teapot. “That teapot is very valuable,” said Mr Chan. “A long time ago it belonged to an emperor. He drank tea from it. ”
“We were going to drink tea from it too, ” said Amy, laughing.

I was walking along a path in the garden, with my dog running in front of me. Suddenly he slowed down, and began to walk quietly as if there were some strange things nearby.

Chaka Salt Lake(茶卡盐湖) lies in Qinghai Province, China. It sits at an altitude(海拔) of about 3,100 meters and covers an area of about 105 square kilometers. It is rich in salt with a heavy salt bed close to the lake surface. That makes the lake a main source of salt in our country. When the weather is clear, the lake offers beautiful reflections(映照出的影像) of the blue sky.

The beautiful sunrise and sunset views are the most attractive. Every July, large numbers of visitors begin to crowd into(涌人) Chaka Salt Lake. And the situation usually lasts until the end of August. Visitors just don’t want to miss the best time to go there. It is believed that with the summer breeze(微风), breathing in the salty air is especially good for lungs(肺). If you want to go on a trip to the lake, the following tips may be helpful.
