Making a poster about a writer
教学目标
By the end of this section, students will be able to:
1. learn what makes a good poster;
2. sort the materials needed for making a poster;
3. make a poster about a writer;
4. introduce a poster to the class;
5. evaluate others’ posters and give suggestions.

Preparation
Step 1 Before class, the teacher asks students to work in groups and choose a writer to research. Students collect some information about this writer from the Internet to get ready for the project. 课前布置作业,让学生确定研究对象并收集资料,为海报的制作做好准备,培养学生自主学习能力。 5’ Group Work Individual Work
Implementation
Step 2 1. At the beginning of the class, the teacher leads students to figure out how many steps they should take to make a successful poster. Then they will finish the poster step by step. 2. At the planning step, the teacher lets students suggest a famous writer about whom they will make a poster and give their reasons before class. Students vote to decide on the choice of the writer. These two tasks should be finished before class. 3. Students have a discussion on what role each member plays in the project. Step 3 1. The teacher has students sort the information they have collected from the following aspects: * Life story * Most popular works * Achievements * Famous sayings One of the group members takes notes of their discussion. 2. The teacher asks students to discuss the following questions. What does the poster consist of What makes a good poster The teacher presents some posters and asks students to point out their weaknesses and strengths, and then summarize the qualities of a good poster. 准备阶段:小组成员根据提示,对收集的资料进行分类;小组通过观察海报,提炼出一份优质的海报所应具备的特质,以便参考。 5’ Group Work
Step 4 1. Group members have a discussion on the layout of the poster and cooperate to make the first draft. 2. Group members proofread the poster and make suggestions. 3. Group members make some changes to the poster and finalize it. 制作阶段:分小组讨论海报的布局,如包括内容、插图等,随后完成海报制作。 通过校对修正,完善组内海报,培养学生反思和调整的能力。 10’ Group Work
Step 5 1. Two members of each group come to the front. One shows the poster around the class and the other introduces the poster from the following aspects: the role each member plays the reason why you choose this writer a brief account of the writer’s life, popular works, achievements and famous sayings The teacher reminds students to pay attention to their body language. Step 6 1.
