教学目标
By the end of this section, students will be able to:
1. know the reasons for promoting traditional Chinese festivals by reading a website article;
2. describe the ways to promote traditional Chinese festivals by listening to a school radio report;
3. get prepared to write an article promoting traditional Chinese festivals.

Step 2 Students are asked to read the first paragraph of the passage on Page 36 and find out what challenges traditional Chinese festivals are faced with. What challenge are the traditional Chinese festivals faced with nowadays Students are required to read the rest of the passage and find the reasons for promoting traditional Chinese festivals. What are the reasons for promoting traditional Chinese festivals 通过阅读并结合自己的切身经历和体会，了解目前传统节日所遇到的问题以及发扬并推广传统节日的原因，在此过程中内化学生的语言知识。 7’ Pair work

Step 3 Students are invited to listen to a school report about what Alice’s school has done to promote traditional Chinese festivals. After listening to the recording twice, students are asked to answer the four questions in B1 and finish B2 on Page 37 and write the answers down. 1. When did the course Traditional Chinese Festivals start 2. Who was the winner of the poster design competition 3. How many students took part in the poetry writing competition 4. Step 4 Students are asked to tell others their ideas about how to promote the traditional Chinese festivals by recalling what is acquired in the previous steps and answering the questions: 1. Why should we promote traditional Chinese festivals The teacher helps students focus on the importance of both the traditional Chinese festivals and the promotion. 2. How can we promote traditional Chinese festivals The teacher inspires students to think of it from different angles—the government, the media, schools and individuals, etc. After collecting the information, students are encouraged to share their ideas of how to promote traditional Chinese festivals.
