Dubbing a film scene
教学目标
By the end of this section, students will be able to:
1. know the strategies of dubbing;
2. dub an English film scene in groups;
3. evaluate and comment on their dubbing.

Preparation
Step 1 1. The teacher has students go over the excerpt of Forrest Gump and watch the video, guiding them to pay attention to the lines, and actors’ intonations and emotions. 2. The teacher gets students to read Tip in Part B on Page 13 to get the ideas of voice acting. Speak clearly and try to stay in time with the character speaking in the film. Use your body language to get into character and help the feelings come naturally. Even though only your voice will be heard, you need to act with your whole body. 3. The teacher encourages students to try dubbing the excerpt of Forrest Gump. 利用Extended reading的剧本、视频片段,引导学生观察演员说台词时的语调、情绪,让学生模仿。 8’ Class work
Step 2 Group work: choose a film scene to dub. 1. The teacher gets students to consider the ideas in Part A on Page 13 when choosing a film scene to dub. (1) One person can play more than one character. (2) The lines should be clearly spoken and not too difficult. (3) The characters speak more or less the same amounts. (4) Two or three minutes. 2. The teacher has students recommend some film scenes. 3. The teacher divides students into groups. Each group will decide a film scene they want to dub. They can find the video clip of the scene, watch it and practice dubbing. 开展小组活动,让学生参考Tip决定要为哪个影片片段配音,利用业余时间,观摩视频,进行配音练习。 10’ Class work Group work
Implementation
Step 3 The teacher allows students to practice some time in class and sees whether they can have some improvement in accuracy, fluency, emotion and other aspects. 学生小组活动,按照自己的理解,演绎影片配音。 15’ Group work
Step 4 Students perform their dubbing in groups.
Evaluation
Step 5 The teacher has students evaluate other groups’ dubbing and give comments in aspects of accuracy, fluency, matching, emotion, effect, etc. Meanwhile the teacher can encourage students to challenge other groups. 通过同伴互评,关注配音者的语言准确性、流畅度、与剧情的匹配度、情绪、效果,深入理解影片中的人物。 10’ Class work
