Analysis on the teaching material The topic is about history and society. In our text book, we have learned this topic in Grade9 M3 Hero. It has something related to this topic, but the content is not so much. In order to help students have a better understanding of our own country, especially our culture, I use the two famous mascots of this year's Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games. Thus, I design the topic to be "Figh: for a Better Future". This lesson is based on the first lesson, we have learned some background information of the two mascots and some new words which we can use in today's writing. In this lesson, we mainly focus on the writing task.
Analysis on students Students are on Level A, most of them are quite interested in English learning. They are given many chances to express themselves freely in English in their daily class. Besides, they would like to ask questions and be brave enough to challenge the teacher. However, in their daily life, they seldom have the chance to think about our culture or talk about it let alone culture confidence. I choose the two mascots Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon which can raise students' interests and with which they are familiar. Above alt they are willing to learn more about them.
Teaching aims After this lesson: students are able to: 1 Language competence: Consolidate and review some words we can use in the writing task, such as flexible, stocky, robust: lively, etc.. Discuss and write a passage about what to do to be an excellent post-00s to help promote Chinese culture in the future by using the knowledge learned in class. 2. Learning ability: Describe what we should do at present through critical thinking and writing, share feelings with others. Leam some writing strategies by recommend others1 composition, .Thinking quality: Try to cultivate the students' critical thinking by recommending other's composition and leam to write a good composition on their own. .Cultural awareness: Appreciate our culture, to gain cultural confidence of our own culture and determine to be an excellent culture promoter in the future.
