一、教材分析
本课主要是通过学习动物名称和常见的有关描述动物的形容词，学会表达个人对动物的喜好；学会运用why,what,where引导的问句，了解动物的外形、生活习性及主要产地，并能运用英语简单描述自己喜欢的动物，进一步培养和激发热爱动物、保护动物、维护生态平衡的朴素情怀。通过语言部分以及交际功能的学习，学生将在交流与表达中掌握英语知识，从而学会分析问题，解决问题，学会与人交流，并在交流中了解世界各地野生动物的情况，增加地理知识，热爱大自然，挽救濒临灭绝的动物。本课又设计到Let’s…及以及Why don’t you...的句型表示建议的用法，学生易于理解、掌握，并有利于功能项目的开展，为学生提供了进一步语言输入和输出得机会，也为下一步英语学习掌握策略、端正态度、提升信心打下坚实的基础。最后通过观看视频了解新修订的《中华人民共和国野生动物保护法》，提升学生的环保意识、野生动物保护和维护生态平衡意识。
二、学情分析
经过七年级一个多学期的中学英语学习生活，学生们已经学过由why, where, what 引导的特殊疑问句，具有了学习本单元知识的认知前提。通过第一课时激发了孩子们了解动物的好奇心，产生了解更多动物信息的强烈欲望，有利于本课的教学和学生学习兴趣的培养。
三、教学目标分析：
1. 语言知识目标：
1) 能掌握以下单词：tiger, elephant, panda, lion, koala, giraffe, cute, lazy, smart, beautiful, scary, kind, kind of, Australia, South Africa,
2) 能掌握以下句型：
①Let’s see the … ②Why do you/ Why don’t you like…
③Because they are …. ④ Where are…from
⑤They are from….
2. 能力目标：
① To observe and describe animals.
② To talk about their preferences
3. 情感态度价值观目标：动物和人类都生活在同一地球上，动物是我们的朋友。我们人类应该与动物和谐相处，共同生存。我们应当学会关爱动物，保护动物。
四、教学重难点
1. 教学重点：1) 学会描述动物的性格及特点。2) 学会表达喜欢某类动物及说明喜欢的原因。
2. 教学难点：1)名词的复数形式表示一类事物；2) 能用英语谈论、描述自己熟悉的动物，以及表达自己对动物的喜爱并陈述原因。
五、教学准备：PPT
学生准备：1.了解一些常见动物的英文名。2.初步认识世界上一些国家的地理位置。
六、教学过程

Enjoy some pictures of animals.Look at some pictures and talk about wild animals.
图片导入，引入话题，让学生了解哪些是野生动物。
Step 3 Presentation
通过gussing game教授新词和目标语言。
1.Animals words
T: OK. Let’s go to the zoo and see animals. Guess what animal do I want to see, Let’s see...
(Show some pictures about animals to teach new words) And then play a guessing game.(I’ll show them some sounds of animals, and some pictures about animals, please guess what animals they are)
Show some pictures about animals to teach description words: cute, smart, scary, friendly, shy, lazy, ugly…)
