We highly recommend this performance. It’s a classical Peking Opera called Farewell to My Concubine. Peking Opera has a history of more than 200 years and was recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2010.
General Introduction
As one of the most famous Peking Opera classic performed by Mei Lanfang, Farewell to My Concubine tells a story that the Overlord of Western Chu (XiangYu) farewelled to his concubine who committed suicide by cutting her throat by the Wujiang River, which describes a moving and tragic circumstance of a hero at the end of his life.
