Procedure
Lead-in Revision. Ask Ss to review the word phrases that learned before.
Step 1 Discussion. Look at some pictures. And discuss the question. How do they feel about their toys
Step 2 Free talk How do you feel about those toys you played with when you were young Where are they now
Step 3 Show some pictures and talk about yard sale.
Step 4 Introduce the yard sale briefly.
Step 5 Activity 3a. Read the article written by a father for a newspaper. What is his family going to sell at the yard sale
Step 6 Activity 3b. Read the article again and answer the questions.
Step 7 Retell the passage briefly according to the sentence structures.
Step 8 Find the words or phrases in the article which can be replaced with the ones below and write them next to the words.
Step 9 Language points: explain the key words and phrases .
Step 10 Sharing: Write down anything that you remember from this lesson. Do not look at the article. Have Ss take turns to share what they have remembered and learned in the lesson.
Step 11 Suppose you are the daughter, Cherry, in the USA. Now you are writing a letter to your pen-pale in China, telling him / her about the yard sale.
