小作文参考范文:
I have read all of the posts above. It is great to know about so many interesting traditions from you all. I’m from China, and we have plenty of traditional holidays and celebrations. The one I miss most is the Lantern Festival, which takes place on 15th January of the Chinese year. During the festival, all kids will bring together lanterns of different shapes to see who has the best one and then start marching around the neighborhood like a little army.
In my opinion, different countries have different traditions, but they have the same purpose: to enjoy a happy life.
大作文参考范文:
Paragraph 1:
Chris and his wife knew this was an opportunity to help a neighbor in need. They decided to do something for the neighbor. They agreed to pay for raccoon removal and roof repairs. Julie took notes of all the light bulbs in the home that needed replacing and purchased new ones. Chris installed the new light bulbs on the weekend. They even purchased a television for Miss Shock, who was very grateful.
Paragraph 2:
Several days later, Chris and his wife came across Miss Shock and had a chat with her. They learned that Miss Shock almost had no family or friends and was very lonely. She spent nearly all of her spare time in a spare bedroom sitting on a couch and listening to the radio. The couple thought they could be Dorene’s friends and it was convenient for them to visit each other often since they were neighbors. So they became regular visitors to Dorene’s house. The children brought Dorene great joy. “It is a great thing to help someone in our community,” they said.沈阳市第 120 中学 2021-2022 学年度高三四月份独立作业(第 8次)

The Omicron Covid variant has been found to multiply about 70 times quicker than the original and
Delta versions of coronavirus in tissue samples taken from the bronchus (支气管) , the main tubes from the
windpipe to the lungs, in laboratory experiments that could help explain its rapid transmission.
The study, by a team from the University of Hong Kong, also found that the new variant grew 10
times slower in lung tissue, which the authors said could be an indicator of lower disease severity.
Michael Chan, who led the work, said the result needed to be interpreted with caution because severe
disease is determined not only by how quickly the virus replicates (复制) but also by a person’s immune
response. “It is also noted that by infecting many more people, a very infectious virus may cause more
severe disease and death even though the virus itself may be less pathogenic (致病的 ) ,” he said.
“Therefore, taken together with our recent studies showing that the Omicron variant can partially escape
immunity from vaccines and past infection, the overall threat from the Omicron variant is likely to be very
significant.”
Jeremy Kamil, an associate professor of microbiology and immunology at Louisiana State University
Health Shreveport, pointed out that Delta, which turned out to be more pathogenic, showed a similar
pattern of replicating more slowly in the lungs. “These authors found Omicron replicates fantastically
well--even far better than either Delta or the original virus--in bronchial tissue,” Kamil said. “This could in
some ways contribute to an advantage in transmission between people.”
Kamil added, “Of course, a huge component of Omicron’s transmissibility in real life is going to be its
potential to escape neutralising antibodies that protect against infection in the first place. It’s very likely
spreading well even between vaccinated people, especially those who haven’t recently gotten a booster
shot.”
The findings, together with other recent work showing Omicron infects cells more readily, add to an
emerging picture that the variant may be intrinsically more transmissible in addition to escaping existing
immunity.
24. What is the kind of the passage
A.A news report. B.A science fiction.
C.A health guide. D.Amedicine advertisement.
25. What could Jeremy Kamil agree with
A.We should take the result seriously.
B.Omicron may cause more severe disease and death.
C.Both Omicron and Delta grew slowly in the lungs.
D.Those who have gotten a booster shot won’t be infected.
26. What can we learn about Omicron
A.It is a new variant of Delta.
B.Delta is less pathogenic than it.
C.Vaccinated people needn’t worry about it.
D.It may pose a great threat to people’s health.
27. According to the passage, which of the following may cause Omicron’s transmissibility
A.That many people haven’t been vaccinated.
B.That many people refused to wears masks in public.
C.That Omicron infects lung cells much more quickly.
D.That existing immunity plays a poor part in fighting Omicron.

It was a method favoured by the inventor Thomas Edison and the artist Salvador Dali. Waking from a
nap exactly at the point before deep sleep in an effort to inspire creativity.
Edison held a metal ball in his hand so that if he nodded off he would drop it and the sound would
wake him. For Dali, it was a key landing on a plate. Now scientists have found that they might have been
onto something.
Researchers at the Paris Brain Institute studied people’s ability to find a hidden rule in a maths puzzle.
Identifying the trick would make solving the problem far simpler but to do so required thinking creatively.
The scientists found that participants who had been woken just before falling into a deep sleep, using a
technique like that used by Edison and Dali, were more likely to find the shortcut.
This “twilight zone” is known as non-rapid eye movement sleep stage 1, or N1. Scientists described it
like an exaggerated form of mind-wandering, where dream-like thoughts fill the mind. It is thought that as
people start to disengage (脱离) from their environment they can “freely watch their minds wander, while
maintaining their ability to identify creative sparks (火花)”.
For the study 103 people were given a maths problem to solve. To reach the final answer they had to
apply the rules step by step but, unknown to them, a “hidden rule” would allow them to bypass most of the
steps and get to the solution much more quickly. The results showed that 83 percent of those in the N1
group had found the shortcut, compared with 31 percent in the group who were awake and 14 percent of
those in a deep sleep.
Researchers conclude that the brain activity common to the twilight zone between sleep and
wakefulness set off creative sparks. “Although the neural mechanisms (神经机制 ) involved are not yet
known, our findings suggest that there is a creative sweet spot within the twilight zone,” said Dr Thomas
Andrillon, co-author of the study.
28. Why did the author mention “a metal ball” and “a key” in Paragraph 2
A.To clarify a method. B.To explain a theory.
C.To present a concept. D.To make a comparison.
29.What can we learn about “the twilight zone” from the text
A.It prevents your mind from wandering.
B.It determines what your dreams will be like.
C.It is known as rapid eye movement sleep stage.
D.It is a state of being half asleep and half awake.
30.What does “the shortcut” in Paragraph 5 refer to
A.The maths problem. B.The final answer.
C.The hidden rule. D.The added step.
31.What attitude may Dr. Thomas Andrillon hold to the technique used by Edison and Dali
A.Doubtful. B.Critical.
C.Reserved. D.Favorable.

AI, 5G and other digital technologies are not only changing our lives but shaping the economy as well.
China’s six major commercial banks are stepping up digital wallet efforts to provide new trend for the
E-CNY (电子人民币) trials in the country. The purpose, China’s bankers said, is not aimed at taking the
place of privately-run payment platforms, such as Alipay and WeChat Pay. Instead, this official electronic
payment system is being done so that all cash in circulation (流通) can be followed.
Compared with Alipay and WeChat payments, E-CNY features anonymity (匿名 ) and security.
E-commerce platforms that accept payments via E-CNY will not have access to users’ personal information.
E-CNY users can open an anonymous digital wallet by registering a mobile phone number, and their
information won’t be revealed to any third-party institutions. E-CNY users’ privacy protection is at the
highest level among all the existing payment tools.
Similar to Alipay and WeChat payments, using E-CNY requires an account. After getting the other
party’s account number, users can enter the amount of digital money to be paid and then enter the password
to complete the transaction (交易 ). However, the processes behind these transactions are different. For
electronic payments, the money has to go through a third party, and the receivers will get the money only
when they withdraw it from banks. But E-CNY transactions only need a payer and a receiver. Therefore, it
guarantees risk-free payments, helps prevent financial crimes and improves the efficiency of transactions.
In simple terms, E-CNY can be considered “money”, while electronic payments are like “wallets”.
The successful launch of the E-CNY may change the existing market structure, which is mainly dominated
by Alipay and WeChat Pay now. The banks may return to a leading position in the digital currency system.
But China’s central bank won’t get more money into circulation, since every yuan issued digitally will
basically cancel one yuan circulating in physical form.
32.Why are commercial banks in China making efforts on E-CNY trials
A.They aim to cut down the use of bank cards.
B.They want to get rid of paper currency.
C.They intend to track the cash in circulation.
D.They plan to replace privately-run payment platforms.
33.What can users benefit when using E-CNY compared with electronic payments
A.People won’t worry about their private information exposure.
B.People can finish the transaction without any password.
C.People can do the transaction at a very low fee.
D.People can withdraw money from banks free of charge.
34.What does the underlined word “dominated” in the last paragraph mean
A.assessed B.accessed C.controlled D.charged
35.What can we infer from the last sentence of the passage
A.More E-CNY in circulation will disturb the normal economy.
B.The E-CNY will shake the position of real paper money.
C.The E-CNY has a promising future.
D.The E-CNY has the equal functions as the paper currency.

Chris Dykstra hadn’t expected what began as a casual walk around the neighborhood with the family
one night led to a journey of friendship.
Chris Dykstra, a traffic manager in Shorewood, Illinois had noticed a few raccoons (浣熊) wandering
around his garbage. However, he didn’t think too much of it. One night when his wife Julie was taking their
four children for a walk after dinner, they tracked the raccoons back to their neighbor’s roof. A further
investigation showed that the raccoons had chewed a hole in the neighbor’s roof and were living in her attic
(阁楼).
The couple had lived in their current home for five years. Yet they had very little contact with the
neighbor. They knew her first name was Dorene and that she liked to watch their children play in the
backyard, and that’s about it.
Concerned for their neighbor’s well-being, Julie decided to knock on the door to make their neighbor
aware of the raccoons living in the attic. Julie knocked on the door and rang the doorbell, but no one
answered. She decided to ask the local police department to do a wellness check on their neighbor.
Two police officers and an animal control officer visited the neighbor’s home to conduct a wellness
check. This time the neighbor — Miss Dorene Shock — opened the door. Miss Shock was surprised to see
someone check in on her. The officers made her aware of the raccoons in her attic.
Having been told the whole thing, Miss Shock welcomed Julie into her house. After touring the house,
Julie learned that Miss Shock lived a poor life. Her home barely had any furniture, and she even didn’t have
a TV set. Besides, her house was in need of additional repairs and updates including new light bulbs.
