Ⅰ. Analysis of the teaching material
1. Status and function
This period is from Unit 8 of Ren’ai Project English Book
Ⅱ. This topic is about the seasons and the weather. It is interesting and related to the Ss’ daily life. So it is a good chance to arouse the students’ interest in English learning and improve their speaking abilities. In the topic, Section A is about four seasons and the weather. The Ss will learn how to ask the weather and the activities in different seasons. If the students can learn it well, it will be very helpful for them to improve their reading skills and speaking skills. So this period is very important in this unit.
2. Teaching aims and demands
1.Aims of the knowledge:
(1)To learn some new words and some phrases.
(2)To learn some useful expressions about the seasons and the weather.
(3)Know about the activities in each season.
(4) Let students talk about their favorite seasons and the weather.
2.Aims of the abilities:
(1)To improve the ability of listening、speaking、reading and writing.
(2)To improve the ability of describing something.
3.Aims of the emotion:
To enable the students to have a deeper understanding of our own cultures and our own hometown,and to train them to love our nation. 3. Teaching important points
(1) To talk about four seasons and the weather.
(2) To master the ways of asking the weather:
What’s the weather like in…… / How is the weather in…… It’s a good time /season for doing sth. It’s a good time /season to do sth
4. Teaching difficult points
(1) To master the usage of some important phrases and key sentences.
(2) To learn to describe the different seasons and the weather.
(3) To understand how to ask the weather.

1. Analysis of students
The students at this age are familiar with the topic about the seasons and the weather. They will be active and cooperative in class. They are full of curiosity and eager to show what they know. They have a strong desire to communicate with others in English in their daily life.

Step l. Warm-up&Lead-in
1.Review the months of a year.
2. Enjoy an English song: the Four seasons
2.Do a memory game by asking“How many seasons in a year ;What are they ”
﹙purpose:This is designed to attract Ss’s attention and interest in English, then lead them into the new lesson freely. ﹚
Step 2.Pre-listening
1. Let the Ss brainstorm. What can we do in each season
2. Let the Ss have a free talk about their ideas about each season.
3. Ask and answer. Show some pictures about the weather and ask the students to make dialogs by using the following expressions. T:What’s the weather like today / How is the weather today S:It’s sunny(cloudy, rainy…).
3. Show four pictures on the screen, and then ask the students to use “What is the weather like in …… ” and “How is the weather in …. ” to discuss and talk about it in pairs.
(The purpose is to train the students to innovate the power of thought, and develop students' listening comprehension skills, students will be able to make a certain amount of understanding language , The space reserved for students, and innovation, through self-study, group discussion so that they can discover and solve problems . ﹚
Step 3: While-listening
1. Let the students listen to 1a, and finish 1b, then check the answers together.
2. Watch and learn the new conversation.
3. Read and act. Let the students read the dialog loudly, then guide them to choose a suitable way to show themselves.
﹙purpose:Practice makes perfect. Let the students read aloud by imitating the voice, tone of voice. To develop students' oral communication skills and the ability to use English, as well as being able to show in the role of co-operation. ﹚
Step 4: Post-listening
1. Let the students read 1a and think about two questions.
How can we ask the weather
What’s the difference between the following two sentences
1) It’s a good time/season for flying kites.
2) It’s a good time/season to fly kites.
2. Let the Ss talk about their favorite season.
3. Listen and complete the conversation. Then practice in pairs.
Step Ⅴ.Project and summary
1. Let the Ss write a short passage about the season they like best. Then give a show.
2. Summarize the language points in this lesson.
3. Homework for this lesson are:
4. 1). Recite 1a.
2). Write a weather report of your hometown.
(The purpose is to revise this lesson and improve the students’ communication and cooperation abilities.
