一、过去进行时
定义：表示过去某个时刻或某一时间段内正在进行或发生的动作。
常用的时间状语：at this / that time yesterday, at six yesterday morning, all night等。
构成：was/were+动词-ing形式
当主语是第一人称单数形式或第三人称单数形式时，
be动词用was，其余人称用were。
基本句式：
肯定句：主语+was/were +动词-ing形式+其他.
否定句：主语+wasn’t/weren’t +动词-ing形式+其他.
一般疑问句：Was/Were+主语+动词-ing形式+其他
肯定回答：Yes, 主语+was/were.
否定回答：No, 主语+wasn’t/weren’t.
特殊疑问句：特殊疑问词+ was/were (+主语)

过去进行时
一般过去时
表示过去某个时刻或某一时间段内正在进行或发生的动作，强调动作正在进行。
表示过去发生的动作或存在的状态，强调动作已发生或已完成。
过去进行时与一般过去时的用法区别

二、when与while引导的时间状语从句
相同点：when和while均可作连词，意为“当……的时候”，引导时间状语从句。
1. when的用法
(1) 指时间点，也可指时间段，其从句的谓语动词
既可以是延续性的，也可以是非延续性的。
例句：当交通灯是绿色的时候，你可以过马路。
You can walk across the street when traffic
lights are green.
(2) 引导的从句的谓语动作既可与主句谓语动作同时发
生，也可以是之前或之后发生。
例句：迈克给我打电话时，我正在跟乔讨论一道数
学题。
I was discussing a math problem with Joe
when Mike called me up.
(3) 若主句是一般将来时，从句用一般现在时表示将来。
例句：我到了上海会给你打电话。
I’ll call you when I arrive in Shanghai.
2. while的用法
(1) 指时间段，其从句的谓语动词必须是延续性的。
例句：请在你的父母健在的时候爱他们，不要等到
一切都太迟了。
Love your parents while they are alive.
Don’t wait until it is too late.
(2) 强调主句动作发生时，从句动作正在进行，常用
while引导从句。主句常用一般过去时或一般现在
时，从句常用进行时。
例句：当我正在河边钓鱼时，我看到附近有一
条空船。
While I was fishing by the river, I saw an

(3) 强调主、从句动作同时进行，常用while引导从句，
此时主从句常用进行时。
例句：康康在上音乐课的时候，Darren在爬山。
