A: Oh, that’s misunderstanding. In the west, it’s regarded as politeness to open gifts as soon as they are given to express appreciation. But in China, if you did that, you might be thought greedy (贪婪的). So Chinese people tend to open the gifts after the visitors have left.
The customs are different.
1. be supposed to do…
“应该做……; 被期望做……”，当句子的主语是人时，它可以用来表示劝告、建议、义务、责任等，相当于to be expected
to do sth.。
E.g.
You’re supposed to ask the teacher if you want to
leave the classroom.
如果你要离开教室，应该先问问老师。
We are not supposed to play football on Sunday.
我们不应该在星期日踢足球。
2. That’s how people in Japan are expected to greet each other.
greet = to welcome or say “hello” ，是动词，意为 “迎接，和……打招呼”。
E.g. He greeted her by saying “good morning”.
他向她打招呼说 “早上好”。
She greeted me with a smile.
她向我微笑致意。
It is +adj. +for/ of sb. to do sth. “做某事对于某人来说……”it是形式主语，真正的主语是动词不定式。
3. It is important to be on time.
(1)若形容词为描述不定式行为者的性格、品质的，如kind, good, nice, right, wrong, clever, careless, polite, foolish等用of sb.。例如：It's very kind of you to help me.你能帮我真好。
(2)若形容词仅仅是描述不定式的，如difficult, easy, hard, important, dangerous, possible等用for sb.。例如：It is very important for us to study English well. 学好英语对于我们来说是很重要的。
【拓展】it作形式宾语，用于：
find/ think/ make/ feel it +adj. + (for sb.) to do sth.
1. I find it difficult to study math well.
我发现学好数学很难。
2. The Internet makes it possible for people to communicate with each other.
网络使人们之间的互相交流成为可能。
