1.一般过去时的意义：
表示过去某个时间发生的动作或存在的状态，也可以表示过去经常或反复发生的动作。
Eg: He was at home yesterday.
2.标志：
表过去的时间，例如a few days/ weeks/ months ago（几天/几个星期/几个月前）, yesterday,（昨天）， last year（去年）,in those days（在那些日子里）, just now（刚才）, in 1990 等表示过去的时间状语连用。

were（第二人称及复数）
例如：我去年11岁。I was eleven years old last year.
现在是9点。八点钟的时候，Jim在打篮球。
It’s nine o’clock now. Jim was playing basketball at 8:00.

否定句 (was not =wasn’t)
He wasn’t at home yesterday.
疑问句
Was he at home yesterday
肯 Yes,he was.

3.“年”的表示方法：
a.年份用基数词来读，一般情况是两位两位读。如：
1876年读作eighteen seventy-six
2030年读作twenty thirty/two thousand (and) thirty
b.年份的其它读法

2008年读作two thousand and eight
