Step 1: Class Opening Greet the class. Prepare for the new concept. 3 minutes
Step 2: Leading-in Guess what. Show a map of the silk road and guess the ancient capital of the thirteen Dynasties. Activate the students’ prior knowledge about Xi’an. Motivate the students by playing a game and lead in the new concept. Then talk about Xi’an to arouse students’ interest to the topic. 2 mintutes
Step 3: Presentation Lead the students to learn the new words and phrases. It can help students have a better understanding and prepare for listening and reading. 5 minutes
Step 4: Listening Play the videofor Lesson 3 and ask students to tell what they find on it and show the pictures of some places in Xi’an. Then listen a passage about Xi’an and find out how old each place is. For the students to get some basic information about the topic.They are helpful for students to learn the main concept.Develop students’ listening skills. 12 minutes
Step 5: Reading Read the text and fill in the blanks about what we can do and what we can’t do in each place.Then they can check the answers in pairs and go over some key points. For the students to learn the main concept better. Reading checking to consolidate the knowledge.Develop students’ reading skills. 13 minutes
Step 6: Extension Introduce some local dishes in Xi’an to students. Let the students know how to give a full introduction about a place. 4 minutes
