Lesson 11 Food in China
(1)Status and Function
This is the fifth lesson in Unit2, Junior English book 2(Learning English).In this lesson,Jenny and his friends talked about Chinese food.It’s related to their daily life.And it is a good chance to learn more about Chinese food and show their favourite food.
(2)Teaching aims
1. Knowledge objects:
A) Understand and use the new words:especially , worth, hand-made
B) Talk about:My favourite food in English.
2. Ability objects:
To develop the students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. To train the students’ ability of working in groups.
3. Moral objects
A) Learn more about Chinese food and enjoy Chinese food but don’t waste.
B) Let students be interested in learning English.
(3)Teaching Important Points and Difficult Points.
A) Be able to use the new words correctly.
B) Talk about their favourite food in English.
(4)Teaching procedures
Step1: Lead-in
Show the picture of Chinese food .Ask the students:What can you see in the picture The students answer: Use a lot of Chinese food to lead in Lesson11 Food in China.
( Purpose:Show the picture of Chinese food that they like to attract the students’ attention and let the students be interested in this lesson.)
Step2: Listening
Show the photo of me , ask:
Who is she What’s she doing What’s her favourite food
Then ask: What were Danny’s favourite dishes Listen to the tape and find out the answer.
(Purpose: Make the students get the general idea of the text and practice their ability of listening.)
Step3: 1st Reading(The first reading) Read and fill in the blanks.
Jenny got back from a trip to the Silk Road in China.He thought everything was great--________ the food!Beijing Duck is really a Chinese treasure.It takes a lot of work,but the end product is______it.Lanzhou noodles are long _________ noodles.They look good and taste great!
(1) Read the short passage together.
(2) Read the passage by themselves and underline the answers.
(3) Show the answers and the teacher teach the new words.

(Purpose:First, let the students read ,then the teacher teaches the new words.)
Step5:Let’s Do it.
1. Tom likes all kinds of ball games,___________ football.

(Purpose: Practise the new words)
Step6: 2nd Reading (The second reading)
Read and answer the questions.
Then combine the questions and answers into a passage.
1.How many people were talking online
2.What did Jenny think of the trip to the Silk Road in China
3.What were Jenny's favourite dishes
4.What's so special about Beijing Duck and Lanzhou noodles
5.Did Dora see a show about Lanzhou noodles on TV
6.Did Chinese people eat noodles for breakfast,lunch or supper
7.Did Paul eat Beijing Duck in his city
Ask some students to show their passages.
Jenny,Dora,Monica and Paul were talking online.Jenny thought everything was great--especially the food.Jenny's favourite dishes were Beijing Duck and Lanzhou noodles.Beijing Duck is really a Chinese treasure.It takes a lot of work,but the end product is worth it.Lanzhou noodles are long hand-made noodles.They look good and taste great! Dora saw a show about Lanzhou noodles on TV.Chinese people ate noodles for breakfast,lunch or supper.Paul ate Beijing Duck in his city.
(Purpose:Make the students get the detailed idea of the text and practise their ability of reading.)
Step7: Learning more about Chinese food.
Learn about Eight Chinese Cuisines (Cantonese Dishes, Hunan Dishes, Shandong Dishes, Su Dishes, Anhui Dishes, Sichuan Dishes, Fujian Dishes and Zhe Dishes.)
(Purpose:Learn more about Chinese food, make the students be interested in Chinese food and English.)
Step8: Show time .
(1) The teacher shows : How to make Stir-fried eggs with tomatoes
We need two tomatoes,three eggs,salt and vegetable oil.
Step1: Wash tomatoes,cut into pieces.And break the eggs into a bowl,add a little salt.And use chopsticks to beat the eggs until they break.
Step2:Add oil into the pan,add the eggs into the pan.As soon as the eggs are cooked,dish out .
Step3:Add some oil into the pan again,put tomatoes into the pan,fry it.
Step4:Put the egg cake into the pan and mix up with tomato juice for 2 minutes.Then the dish is finished.
It takes me ten minutes to make it .It's delicious.Can you cook it You can have a try after school.
(2) The students show their favourite food in English.
(Purpose:Encourage the students to show their favourite food, and practice their ability of speaking English.)
Step9: Summarize and Homework.
(1)Sum up:We can use the new words :especially, worth, be worth, hand-made.And we have learned more about Chinese food.Let the students enjoy Chinese food but don’t waste.
(2)Today’s homework. Write a passage about” My favourite food”.
(Purpose: let the students know Chinese food has a long history, enjoy but don’t waste.)
(五)Blackboard Designing
Lesson11 Food in China

worth 值得 The bike is worth 300 yuan.
be worth doing sth The book is worth reading.
hand-made 手工的 I like eating hand-made noodles.
(六)教学反思
本节课的优点:
(1) 以兴趣为前提,以目标为主线,以任务为途径层层推进。从导入开始,以听,说,读,写 各种形式层层展开,中间以图片,视频等形式来吸引并调动学生的学习兴趣和积极性。
(2)整节课学生始终以饱满,积极的状态参与了课堂,各个环节围绕本课的知识,能力,情感目标来解决不同层次和不同种类的任务。
(3)以学生为主体,老师为主导。学生轻松愉快的获取了知识。
本课的不足:让学生展示的时间少。
