2021 is the year of the ox(牛). In March, a set of stamps about the famous Tang Dynasty painting, Five Oxen, came out. It allows more people to know better the great art of ancient China, as well as the importance of agriculture(农业) in history. Han
Huang(723—787) was the painter of Five Oxen. He worked as a government official in the Tang Dynasty. His paintings were loved by many people because the animals he painted were so alive. Unluckily, Five Oxen is probably his only painting left.
Five Oxen is one of the best animal paintings in China’s art history. In the painting, the five oxen are in a line. They are of different colours and shapes. And each has a different appearance (形态) , walking or standing, holding their heads high or low. With lively expressions and bright eyes, the oxen show the spirit of doing hard work without complaints(抱怨). As the name suggests, ▲ . It makes people focus(关注) on the oxen themselves.

Some years ago, our head teacher, Mrs Waters decided to start a school newspaper, and get as many students as possible to take on the job of producing it—and parents, too. She felt the newspaper would help them learn more about school life, through articles on things like sports achievements and art projects, which not all students know about if they’re not taking part. Students took the whole thing very seriously—and we now have a prizewinning newspaper!
Some of my friends joined the newspaper team immediately and enjoyed it. I’d always loved creative writing and drawing cartoons, which I thought would be perfect in the newspaper, so I signed up. My dad, who’s a reporter, was pleased—he thought that even though I wasn’t fond of a job like his, the newspaper would be a great chance for me. And he was right—I loved it! Dad often came along to give advice, which was popular with the students.
My first job was writing a report about a sports event— a writing style I’d never tried before. But Dad reminded me it was similar in some ways to writing a story. That was getting information in the right order. Once I’d understood that, there was nothing that could stop me. And after my efforts, I developed quite a professional(专业的) style, which was fantastic. Sometimes the team couldn’t use what I had written, or my cartoons, for whatever reason, but I didn’t mind. And sometimes it was hard to finish articles on time, but I usually got there.
I’m now one of the editors. We decide what goes into the newspaper, so our names no longer appear in print. And it’s stressful sometimes as we don’t have much time, but we try to manage that properly. We also correct mistakes in people’s articles, which we all have to get used to, but we are soon doing it without thinking as well as in our own schoolwork. I still put off calling people outside school for comments(评论) on articles, but I think it’s all good experience at least. That’s what Dad said!

This was my first time to take part in the school show. However, I wasn’t doing the usual things like dancing or singing. I made a movie.
