1. Dating back to the 18th century, Peking Opera has over two hundred years of history.
常用一般现在时态，不用进行时态，也不用被动语态。后常跟过去的时间，如：……世纪、……年代、过去的年份等。
eg These sculptures date from/back to the middle of the 7th century.
2. At first, I thought what I heard was a violin, but later I learnt that it was an instrument with two strings called jinghu.
what在此处引导名词性从句
(1) 确定含义。what引导名词性从句有两种含义：一是“什么”；二是“……的人/事/物”。
(2) 确定成分。what在名词性从句中可作主语、宾语、表语或定语。
