Part 1 The Analysis of Materials
The reading article in this unit is an expository text. The theme is “people and society”, and the topic is “festivals”. It introduces the types, origin, significance of ancient and modern festivals at home and abroad, as well as people’s celebrations and customs. Through the study of this unit, students not only know Chinese festivals, but also know foreign festivals, so as to expand cultural background and increase transnational knowledge. While comparing Chinese characteristics and international diversity, students can enhance their recognition of China’s traditional culture, so as to establish correct values.
Part 2 The Analysis of Students
However, although senior one students have a certain English language foundation and can use simple reading strategies to complete reading tasks, many are lack of oral English expression ability, thinking quality and cultural awareness.
The students in grade one of senior high school have just finished the Spring Festival and are still immersed in the happy atmosphere of the Spring Festival. There are many topics that students can talk about the Spring Festival.
Students are curious and interested in foreign traditional festivals and celebrations.
