Buying second-hand items is becoming more popular these days. Have you ever heard of a second-hand book shopping website, Deja Vu
When Chen Junjun, 22, a college student in Shanghai, wants to buy books, she uses Deja Vu. She searches for the books she wants and adds them to her shopping cart (购物车), just like on any other shopping website. The difference is that the books are much cheaper – as much as 70 percent cheaper than new books. “Since I don’t have enough spending money, it’s a perfect choice for me,” Chen said. This winter vacation, my friends and I went to Cairns in Australia as volunteers(志愿者). We worked in a zoo. Although the work was tiring, it’s still a good memory for me.
One day before lunch, I had to cover a road with mud (泥) and sand. It seemed that heavy rain had caused a lot of trouble. A strong, cowboy-looking man usually told us what to do. It was often hard work. When he came and asked for help, we did a guessing game to decide who would be the “lucky one”. The only girl on our team lost the game, but the man needed someone stronger to do the job, so I was picked. In the afternoon, we chopped (剁碎) fruit to feed animals. We also went to pick up kangaroo droppings (袋鼠粪便) and put them in boxes as “gifts” for dung beetles (蜣螂). When collecting the kangaroo poo, the biggest kangaroo left some fresh pieces at the scene.
During those few days, I saw how the zookeepers took care of the animals. None of the animals were treated like pets. When feeding birds, we tied pieces of fruit onto fresh tree branches (树枝) and left the branches in their cages. Even animals in the zoo lived with pride. I believe that it was an environment that provided everyone with a chance to be respected.

When you wake up every morning, you need to decide what to wear, what to eat, where to go, how to go, whether to do exercise, etc. Along the road of life, you make many decisions. So you should be careful of decision making. You can’t ignore(忽视) the importance of decision making. Even one small choice can make a big difference. However, for every choice, big or small, it’s not easy to make the right decision. Here is some advice for you.
Don’t make decisions when you are over-excited, angry, or sad. Staying in high spirits, either positive or negative, can affect your ability to make a good decision. If you can’t stay calm, put off making the decision until you’re thinking clearly.
Most decisions are made better when you have enough information. Do some research to find out as much as you can about your decision.
There are usually many choices for you, so try to make a list of all the choices. And don’t make decisions until you’ve got a full list of your choices. If you have trouble thinking of all the choices, ask your family or friends for help.
The best way to make a decision is to think about how you’re going to feel about it in the future. Warren Buffett’s 10 /10/10 Rule can help you make decisions. It’s really easy and you just remember the three questions: How will you feel about your decision in 10 minutes How about in 10 months How about in 10 years
Of course, if a decision you made is finally found to be wrong, remember life is not always what you want it to be.
56. How does the writer start the text
A. By telling a story. B. By giving a definition(定义).
C. By taking examples. D. By showing different opinions.
57. How many suggestions about how to make right decisions does the writer give us
A. 2 B. 3 C. 4. D. 5
58. The underlined phrase “put off” in Para 2 probably means ____________ in Chinese.
A. 拖延 B. 推迟 C. 敷衍 D. 搅扰
59. Which of the following is True according to the text
A. Doing some research helps you make better decisions.
B. Let your friends or family make decisions for you.
C. Making decisions has nothing to do with your feelings.
D Use the 10 / 10 /10 Rule to make a full list of choices.
60. What does the writer want to tell us in the last paragraph
A. Try not to make wrong decisions. B. Remember the decisions you make.
C. Think twice before making decisions. D. Learn to accept wrong decisions.

Last week, my class took a field trip to the Cadbury Chocolate Factory in Toronto.
We were put into 10 groups and visited an old building. The guide first explained the history of Cadbury. Then, we got some ear buds (耳塞), disposable (一次性的) lab clothes and hairnets (发网). These protected our ears from the noise from machines and made sure we didn’t dirty their work area.
After preparation, we went upstairs and got into the chocolate-making area. The floor was filled with many machines. Each machine has a different job. The whole floor only has two people working because machines do most of the work.
The next station explained the history of chocolate-making. There was a picture of the factory 100 years ago. They had more than 1,000 people working there. The factory is very different now. It’s amazing how technology is changing our lives.
Later, we saw the chocolate-making process. We got a cocoa bean, some powdered (粉状的) chocolate and a final chocolate product (产品). I opened the cocoa bean and tasted it. It tasted bitter, kind of like dark chocolate. It is the raw material (原料) used to make chocolate. The powdered chocolate tasted good already. The final product tasted delicious. It is a mix of cocoa bean, milk and sugar.
Finally, we bought some chocolate at a shop in the factory. This field trip taught me how important technology is and I also learned about the chocolate industry.
