2. Do you think happiness lies in the past
or in the future?For the first essay:

Because when she imagine her future, she see herself successful in her job and surrounded by her family. She predict there will be new technology which will allow people to live longer and be healthier. (L1-5)

happiness in being successful at it.

1) (时间、空间)在……前面

3. All I had to do was go to school and spend a few hours studying when I came home. (P30 L10-11)
我要做的就是上学,以及回家后再花几个小时学习。
All I had to do was enjoy my adolescence. (P30 L14)
我要做的一切就是享受我的少年时光。
这两句中的I had to do是定语从句,修饰先行词all,定语从句的引导词that被省略了; go to school是动词不定式作表语,省略了to。当主语部分有实义动词do时,作表语的不定式常省略to。
因此,完整的句子是:

All that I had to do was to enjoy…All (that)sb./does/did is /was (to) do... 是一个常用句型,意为某人做能做的是……,
相当于what sb.do/does/did is/was(to)do...,

5. Technology will guarantee good health and … (P31 L10)
guarantee vt. 保证
1) 跟名词
Buying a train ticket doesn’t guarantee you a seat.
2) 跟从句
I can guarantee that you will be satisfied with the result.
3) 跟不定式
We guarantee to be here on time tomorrow.
