(什么是宾语从句）
宾语从句是主从复合句的一种。主从复合句是由一个主句或一个以上的从句构成。主句是复合句的主体，从句仅是主句的一个成份，它从属于主句，不能独立。从句在全句中充当什么成分，就叫什么从句。宾语从句中的从句在全句中做宾语。

(1)陈述句的引导词用that
that 在句中无词汇意义，在从句中不能充当成分，在口语当中往往省略。
e.g.1. I hear (that) you passed the exam.
2. He said (that) his father was a singer.
3. The teacher told us (that) the sun rises in the east.
由从属连词that引导的宾语从句
但that引导的宾语从句作except, in, but, besides等少数介词的宾语时that不能省略。
如:I know nothing about him except that he is from the south.
除了知道他来自南方以外,我对他一无所知。
由从属连词whether, if引导的宾语从句
(2)一般疑问句的引导词用if/whether
if/ whether “是否”，说明对陈述的事物不明确或不清楚。常用在ask, wonder, can(could) you tell me 等后。
e.g.1. I want to know whether/if he is right.
2. I Ask him whether/if he likes me.
3. I wonder whether/if we can get there.
4. Could you tell me whether/if that film is interesting

◆只能用whether不能用if的情况
1.在介词后面：
I’m thinking of whether we should go fishing.
We are worried about whether it will rain tomorrow.
2.在动词不定式前：
They asked me whether to go skating.
由从属连词whether, if引导的宾语从句
3.当与or not连用，或提出两种选择时:
I don’t know whether he’s free or not.
Mary asked whether I was doing my homework or not.
Tell me whether you’d like to go shopping or tidy the room.
4.宾语从句提前时：
Whether this is true or not, I can’t say.

(3)由连接代词和连接副词引导的宾语从句
①连接代词who,whom,whose,what,which,whoever,whatever在句中有词义,充当从句中的主语、宾语、表语、定语。
如:I wonder what he’s writing to me.
(宾语)我想知道他正在写什么给我。
He can’t decide which sweater he should buy.
(定语)他不确定他该买哪件毛衣。
由从属连词whether, if引导的宾语从句
②连接副词where,when,how,why在句中有词义,并且充当从句中的状语。如:I’ll tell you why I asked you to come.
(原因状语)我会告诉你我为什么要你来。
Could you tell me where Tom has gone
(地点状语)你能告诉我汤姆去哪里了吗
I want to know when you can finish the work.
(时间状语)我想知道你什么时候能够完成这项工作。

宾语从句之语序
宾语从句的语序，即从句部分应为陈述句语序。尤其要注意引导词：if或whether引导的宾语从句及以连接代词或连接副词引导的宾语从句。

宾语从句之语序
①陈述句变为宾语从句，语序不变，即仍用陈述语序。
如：He is an honest boy. The teacher said.
→The teacher said（that）he was an honest boy.
②一般疑问句和特殊疑问句变为宾语从句，语序变为陈述语序。
如：Does he work hard？I wonder.
→I wonder whether/if he works hard.
When did he leave？I don’t know.
→I don’t know when he left.
(3)What’s wrong with… 和What’s the matter 在宾语从句中语序不变。如:
I want to know what’s wrong with you. 我想知道你怎么了。

宾语从句之语序
宾语从句之时态
1.主句用一般现在时，现在进行时或一般将来时等“现在”范畴的时态时，从句的时态根据需要来用，不受主句影响。
I want to know what time he got up this morning.
He will tell us that he has been able to look after himself.
They are saying that they really like this city.
宾语从句之时态
2.主句用过去时，从句用与过去相关的时态。
Kate said there was a box under the desk.
They asked what he was doing then.
She asked whether I had seen her before.
宾语从句之时态
3.从句说明的是一般真理、客观事实、自然现象、名言时，仍用现在时。
Dad told us that it is better to do than to say.
He told me the earth moves around the sun.
4.从句中有具体时间状语，即使从句动作发生在主句动作前，仍用一般过去时。
The teacher told me she was born in 1960.
