A Let’s learn of Unit 3 in Book Eight of PEP
II Title: Unit 3 Where did you go
III Analysis of teaching material:
It’s the first lesson of this unit. It focus on the past tense. We have learned the past tense in Unit 2. In this unit ,we’ll strengthen the grammar point. The topic of this unit is the holiday. The irregular verbs’ past tense is key and difficult points in this lesson. What’s more, the four-skilled phrases and sentence patterns which talk about the holiday are very important.
IV Analysis of the students:
The pupils have learned English for more than three years in school. They like English. They are interested in English. They are eager to learn new things. Active as pupils are, they are willing to take part in the teaching activities.
V Teaching concept:
The pupils are master of the class. Every teaching step is based on pupils’ understanding. And I should make every pupil in my class have a chance to experience fun and success of learning English.

Step 1 Warm-up

T: Today our topic is “Where did you go ”
Let’s enjoy the music ,a song about holiday
设计意图:以自由谈话复习旧知,为学习新知做铺垫,听歌引出课题,并让学生在一个轻松愉快的氛围中学习。
Step 2 Presentation
T:John had an interesting holiday. He wrote a diary about it. T shows John’s diary about his holiday.
T sets up a task “Can you help John complete his diary ”
Because John can’t write some phrases. He put some pictures instead.
PPT presents the pictures and new phrases one by one.
T teaches the phrases and the irregular verbs’ past tense one by one.
设计意图:以holiday引出John关于假日的日记,衔接紧密,便于学生接受和理解。再设置任务,激发学生的学习兴趣和求知欲。
T shows some photos about her summer holiday. And she put them in her micro blog.
PPT presents T’s micro blog. Then T introduce John’s micro blog.
And T presents the dialogue between Zhang Peng and John on the blog.
T teaches the other new phrases and irregular verbs’ past tense in the sentence patterns.
设计意图:呈现老师自己的假日照片,展示微博,让学习内容贴近生活,同时激发学生的好奇心,让学生愿意继续学习和探究。

设计意图:完整呈现学习内容,让学生整体把握所学内容,同时加强学生听和读的技能。
Step 3 Practise

2.Play a game “Catch the plane” (read the words or phrases when you see the plane)
3.Make a similar conversation,and then act it out in front the class.
A: Where did you go last Sunday
B: I went to _______.
A: What did you do there
B: I _______.
设计意图:用学生喜欢的chant和游戏方式来巩固新知,吸引学生的注意力,体现英语学习的乐趣,也更能让学生集中注意力。学生表演自编对话,可以体验和增强学生学习英语的成就感。
Step 4 Consolidation
Listen, answer and write on Page 25
Students listen the tape first and complete the sentences by themselves.
T checks the answer with the students together.
2.To motivate the students’ desire to do out and travel around by several sentences:
The world is like a book. If you stay at home instead of traveling, it means that you just stare at one page of the book.
Let’s go out, travel around and enjoy our holidays.
设计意图:听力练习既训练了学生听得技能,也是对本课新知的巩固,还体现了新课程理念:学生能用英语做事情。最后用几句话让学生体会“读万卷书不如行万里路”的美好意义。
