(3)Canada意为“加拿大”,是名词, 意为“加拿大人,加拿大人的”。
如:He isn’t from Canada. But his teacher is a Canadian.他不是来自加拿大,但是他的老师是一名加拿大人。
2. I want to call you but my phone isn’t working, so I’m writing to you.我想给你打电话,但电话信号不好,所以我就给你写信了。
1) work 用来表示仪器、设备的“ ”。这种情况下,若用于否定结构,大多表示某一物件“坏掉了”或“不运作了”。例如:
The clock isn’t working now.现在钟停掉了。
Can I come to your house this evening and watch the NBA game with you My TV doesn’t work.我能今晚来你家跟你一起看NBA比赛吗?我家电视坏了。
2)write to 表示“ ”。例如:
My friend, Tom, often writes to me. Now I’m writing to him.我的朋友汤姆经常给我写信,现在我正在给他写信呢。
3. It’s hot in your country now, isn’t it 你们国家现在很热,对吧?
此句是一个陈述内容之后附加了一个简短的疑问部分,来对陈述的内容进行确认。语法把这样的疑问结构称作“附加疑问句”,也称为“反意疑问句”。例如:
It is very cold there, isn’t it 那儿很冷,是吧?
4. Are you studying hard, or are you having fun 你正在努力学习,还是正玩得开心?
hard在此处是副词,意为“ ”,修饰动词study。hard还可以作形容词,意为“硬的;困难的”。
You need to work hard to get good grades.你需要努力学习才能取得好的成绩。
The question is too hard to solve by himself.这个问题太难了,他自己解决不了。

(2)weather为不可数名词,意为“ ”,
前面不能用不定冠词a/an。其同音异形词是whether(是否)。

2. It's cloudy.天气多云。
【归纳】回答询问天气的问句时,通常用:“It’s +表示天气的形容词.”。常见的该类形容词有:
fine(晴朗的),dry(干燥的),warm(温暖的),cold(寒冷的),cool(凉爽的),hot(炎热的),rainy(下雨的),snowy(下雪的),sunny(晴朗的),cloudy( )等。同时也可以用现在进行时进行回答:It's raining/snowing.正在下雨/ 下雪。
拓展:cloudy是由名词cloud(云)加后缀 y构成的形容词。类似用法的还有:
如: Nanjing looks much more beautiful on ________ (snow) days.
3. How’s it going 情况怎么样?
【归纳】How’s … 句型在问候语中用来 。
答语常为:Great. / Pretty good. /Not bad./ Just so-so. 等。

【拓展】 表达问候还可以用 How are you 进行询问,答语常为“Fine, thank you.”。这两句话的重点不在于询问,而在于问候或打招呼。
4. Sounds like you’re having a good time. 听起来你玩得好开心。
【归纳】这是一个省略句,相当于 It sounds like you’re …。英语It sounds like …与It sounds …
句型近似,都表示“听起来……;听上去……”。这种省略的用法十分口语化,在日常英语会话中经常听到。

2.现在进行时的基本用法总结
(1)表示 动作正在发生或进行。They are playing basketball now.
(2)表示现阶段正在进行的动作或发生的事。

(3)有些动词的现在进行时用来表示按计划或安排将要进行的动作。常用的动词有:come, go, arrive, leave, start, stay等。
