教学目标:
1.Knowledge aims(知识目标): To learn words and phrases about daily activities
2.Ability aims(能力目标): To talk about what people are doing
3.Emotion aims(情感目标): To enjoy every school moment
学情分析:
本单元的主题是“谈论人们正在做的事情”,主要是学习用现在进行时表达正在进行的日常活动、询问他人正在做某事的表达方式。在表达“能力”、“时间”时,要使用以前所学过的 “He can…”、“What time is it ” 等句型。教师可引导学生观察,比较,总结的方法掌握所学现在进行时疑问句的结构和使用以及回答。
重点难点
1. 重点:
1) New words: newspaper, use, soup, wash, movie,
2) New phrases: read a newspaper, go to the movies, eat out, talk on the phone, listen to a CD, use the computer, make soup, wash the dishes
3) Sentence structures
What are you doing — I'm watching TV.
What is she doing — She is talking on the phone.
2. 难点:
1)现在进行时中现在分词的结构,能在交际中准确地运用现在进行时来描述或表达正在进行的动作。
2)运用现在进行时的正确结构进行写作,描述正在进行的动作。
四. 教学过程设计
The First Period(第一学时)
Step 1 Lead in
Aim: To familiarize Ss with the present progressive tense
The teacher shows several micro-blog chats with videos attached on the PowerPoint
T: Tony is unhappy because his dog is missing. Luckily, two strangers find his dog and send him some messages.
T: After you watch the videos, can you help Tony find his dog
S1: I think it’s the second one.
T: Why
S1: Because he can walk on two legs.
T: Yes, the first dog is playing with a toy and the second dog is walking on two legs.
Step 2 Presentation
Aim: To present the present progressive tense.
The teacher presents some dynamic pictures in his Wechat and asks questions.
T: What does she do every day
S1: She talks on the phone every day.
T: Look at the time. What time is it now
S1: It’s a quarter to five.
T: Yes, and she is talking on the phone.
The teacher shows more pictures and mainly asks questions with these structures: What is he/she doing What are they doing
Step 3 Game: You act, I guess
Aim: To use the game to consolidate students’ understanding of the new words and help them memorize them.
The teacher gives an example: show one phrase with present progressive tense on the screen. The teacher faces the students and students do the act and the teacher guesses the phrase.
Ask several pairs of students to compete. (Two Ss guess the acts while other students doing the acts, and the teacher asks Ss to pay attention to the forms of Ving.)
Add some points for the winning group.
Step 4 Match-up
Aim: To check Ss’ understanding of the words and phrases
1. Ask students to match them up
2. Check the answers by asking students “What is he/she doing ” or “What are they doing ”
Step 5 Listening
Aim: To enhance Ss’ listening skills
1. What are the people doing
2. Write numbers from 1a below.
3. Check the answers in pairs like this:
A: What is Jenny doing B: She is watching TV.
A: What is John doing B: He is doing his homework.
A: What are Dave and Mary doing B: They are eating dinner.
Step 7 Pair work
Aim: To enhance Ss’ oral English
1. Show students an example by asking a student to do the pair work with the teacher while looking at the dynamic pictures on the screen.
2. Ask Ss to practice the dialogue similarly.
Step 8 Exercises
Lead students to conclude the structures of present progressive tense.
Finish the exercises to consolidate students’ understanding.
Step 8 Group work
Aim:To enhance teamwork among students
Background: The school journalists are making a program named Happy School Moments. Now they are interviewing some students during the break (课间).
任务:4人一组,分配一名记者,采访其他三人,其他人各自做自己的事情。采访完后由记者做口头报告。
Step 8 Writing
Aim: to enhance Ss’ writing skills.
1. Ask Ss to write down what they have got in the interview.
2. Give Ss some pictures about their break and ask them to refer to the pictures.
3. Write a passage with prompts given.
Step 9 Summary
The teacher guides Ss to summarize the words, phrases, and sentences learnt.
Step 10 Homework
Write an essay about the sports meeting by looking at the teacher’s Wechat moments.
