Many of us don’t pay attention to the importance of eye care. It’s said that if you take care of your body, then you can be healthy. That is why our eyes should be given a lot of care. Natural eye care should be put in a number one place.
There are several causes leading to poor eyesight, like not enough food, genes(基因) and aging(年龄增长). Televisions, computers and reading are also the causes of having poor eyesight.

Eating healthy foods will do good for your eyesight. Remember that vitamins(维生素) A, C and E are good for eyes. Try to eat food groups that have these vitamins. And you should do eye exercises because exercise protects your eyesight, too. If a person exercises regularly(规律地) and eats the right kind of food, his eyes will stay in good condition for a long time.

What’s the most important thing for you to have in your life Somebody mentions(提到)hard-work, others suggest knowledge, love and luck.
If you arrange the 26 English letters alphabetically (按字母表的顺序) and use numbers to represent each of them, for example, 1 for a, 2 for b, 3 for c…, you can change an English word into a number. So hard-work becomes 8+1+18+4+23+15+18+11= “98”, meaning 98 is its mark; knowledge: 11+14+15+23+12+5+4+7+5= “96”, while love: 12+15+22+5= “54”, and luck: 12+21+3+11= “47”, a small mark. None of these words can give one a full mark. What about money or prayer (祈祷) They can’t, either.
Then what else Don’t be worried. You can always find an answer to a problem in your life, when you change your way of looking at things or doing things, or your attitude (态度). Yes, attitude is the word. See for yourself: attitude: 1+20+20+9+20+21+4+5=100, a full mark.
Different attitudes lead to different courses of life. Most times people hope for a better life. It is possible that one will have a change for the better after one has changed one’s attitude.
When you change your manner and became friendly towards others, you’ll meet more smiling faces towards you. In the same way, if you take a positive (积极地) attitude towards failure (失败), you’ll find it’s also rewarding though it has caused you losses.

Jane Austen(1775-1817), an English novelist, started writing young and completed six novels in her life. Today Austen’s books are more popular than ever. In the last 10 years, five of her six novels have been made into Hollywood films, while her books continue to be best-sellers.
Richard Jenkyns, a professor of English at Oxford University, says that her novels are about marriage, friendships and the family, which are still with us today. “The stories are timeless.” Jenkyns said.
Pride and Prejudice(偏见)(1813)is Austen’s most famous work. It is a love story about Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. At first, these two dislike each other. Elizabeth is pretty, smart and lively. She is proud because Darcy doesn’t know about her family. Mr. Darcy is handsome, rich and has a better family background. So, he is proud as well. At the same time, Darcy holds a prejudice against the Bennet family. He has no understanding of why the family, especially its mother and daughters should try so hard to find wealthy and powerful husbands. He thinks they are vulgar. Anyway, Elizabeth and Darcy finally fall in love and become a romantic couple but their families don’t want them to.
In Pride and Prejudice, some of the main things that Jane Austen wants to teach people are as follows. Opposites can attract each other. Lovers should not only make each other feel relaxed or comfortable, but also educate and improve each other.
Austen is often called the greatest romantic writer, so it is surprising she remained unmarried. “Maybe she was too romantic, waiting for the perfect man,” Jenkyns says.

China’s Double 11 online shopping festival is now getting greener. It has become a test field where some companies are trying to make a difference in lower carbon emission (碳排放).
In 2021, Tmall gave out 100 million yuan worth of shopping vouchers (代 券 ). The company encouraged people to buy green products with the vouchers. JD.com also joined in the activity. There were more than 150 million green products at the shopping festival. Besides, JD.com said it would choose cleaner transportation to make the world greener.

Earthquakes happen very often in Tokyo, but Tokyo is not an unlucky city. Many special parks have been built in Tokyo to keep people safe during earthquakes. These parks look nothing different from the other parks, but when earthquakes happen, they become life-saving places.
Many useful things in those special parks can meet people’s basic needs.
For example, it is usually hard for people to get water after earthquakes. In the special parks, people can get drinking water from the water pump (泵). If people need to use toilets (厕所), they can choose special toilets that can be used without water. Also, the helicopter ( 直 升 机 ) can land on squares or baseball fields and bring food or other things to people. What’s more, if people need to cook in the parks, some special benches can become cooking things.
However, those useful things are not enough for people to face earthquakes. The most important part lies in training people. The parks, together with fire stations and the police, will train with local people at the usual time. This will let people think and move faster during real earthquakes and let them protect themselves better.
So, what can we do to protect ourselves from getting hurt in earthquakes First, we need to check our furniture and make sure they won’t fall down easily. Everyone knows that it’s hard to drink in space because of the low gravity, but Chinese astronauts Jing Haipeng and Chen Dong showed us how they drank tea on a TV show during the month-long trip in Shenzhou XI spaceship last year. They used a specially made tea cup and a special Pu’er cream to drink tea while standing upside down.
The Pu’er tea cream they drank is produced in Yunnan province, which is known for its Pu’er tea industry.
“Drinking hot tea is harder,” said Jing Haipeng. “The difficult part of drinking tea in space is that there should not be anything left after the tea dissolves (溶解) in water, also, the solubility(溶解度)of the tea should be low since water in space can only be warmed to 60 degrees at most.”
The tea cream the astronauts drank is produced by Gongrunxiang Tea Industry Corp in Kunming. Zhang Guanghui, manager of Gongrunxiang, said that the company tries to produce a tea cream that’s a safe, healthy tea product. Tea products are often reported to be polluted by air and heavy metals. “I never imagined that one day our tea cream would help astronauts to drink tea in space,” Zhang said, adding that drinking tea in space can be seen as a turning point for the Pu’er tea industry.
“For us, astronauts’ drinking tea in space means our technology used in the tea industry has had some achievements,” Zhang said. “In the future, more tea producers will use it to improve the tea industry.”

C. He thinks it might help improve the production of Pu’er tea.
D. He thinks it might help improve the tea industry and make Pu’er tea popular.

When the great library of Alexandria (亚历山大图书馆) burned, the story goes, one book was saved. But it was not a valuable book, and so a poor man, who could read a little, bought it for very little money.
The book wasn't very interesting, but between its pages there was something very interesting indeed. It was a thin strip of animal skin on which was written the secret of the“Touchstone (试金石)”! The touchstone was a small pebble (鹅卵石) that could turn any common metal into pure gold.
The writing explained that it was lying among thousands and thousands of other pebbles that looked exactly like it. But the secret was this: The real stone would feel warm, while common pebbles were cold.
So the man sold his few belongings, bought some simple supplies, camped on the seashore, and began testing pebbles. He knew that if he picked up common pebbles and threw them down again because they were cold, he might pick up the same pebble hundreds of times. So, when he felt one that was cold, he threw it into the sea. He spent a whole day doing this but none of them was the touchstone. Yet he went on and on this way. Pick up a pebble. Cold—throw it into the sea. Pick up another. Throw it into the sea. The days continued over a long period of time.
One day, however, about mid-afternoon, he picked up a pebble and it was warm. He threw it into the sea before he realized what he had done. He had formed such a strong habit of throwing each pebble into the sea that when the one he wanted came along, he still threw it away.
So it is with opportunity (机会). Unless we are cautious (小心的,谨慎的), it's easy to fail to recognize(识别) an opportunity when it is in hand and it's just as easy to throw it away.

C. Opportunity prefers slow but strong mind.
D. Opportunity only visits the ready and cautious mind.
