A smartphone addict: to be or not to be
My friend Jack used to be a smartphone addict. Whenever and wherever he went, he was always having his eyes glued to the screen of his smartphone. At a time, he preferred to stay indoors, engaged in all kinds of online activities on his smartphone. Even when he had to go out, his attention was still paid to his smartphone. Then one day, he was struck by a speeding car shooting past and ended up in hospital for nearly two months.

It was the turning point when he made up his mind to cut back on the use of his smartphone. Here is what he shared with us.
When he was in hospital, he was taken good care of and accompanied by his parents, who he had thought could be very hard to get along with. However, it turned out that his staying in hospital allowed him to have more sincere talks with his parents, and he enjoyed their company.

After he was discharged from the hospital, he began to join more school clubs and worked on some projects with his friends, which made him aware that face-to-face communication really counts. Meanwhile, he got involved in more outdoor activities, like taking a walk after school, going cycling with friends, going camping at weekends, which made him feel refreshed and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Two weeks later, he found that he didn’t rely on his smartphone as much as before and could enjoy more beauty of life. What a good decision cutting down on the use of his smartphone was, he told us, feeling relieved and happy. The life without a smartphone is more meaningful!
