引导目的状语从句的连词不多,比较常用的有in order that和so that,另外,in case有时也可引导目的状语从句。

1.用in order that引导:in order that的意思是“为了”
例句:He is working hard in order that he can pass the examination.
= He is working hard in order to pass the examination.
= He is working hard so as to pass the examination.
区别:in order that +句子,in order to= so as to +动词/动词短语

2.用so that引导:so that此时的意思是“以便”
例句:She burned the letters so that her husband would never read them. 她把信都烧了,这样一来她丈夫就永远看不到了。
注意:so that引导目的状语从句与引导结果状语从句时的意思不一样。

3.用in case引导:in case此时的意思是“以防”“以备”
例句:I always keep a bottle of wine by in case friends call round. 我平时总存着一瓶酒以备朋友来时喝。
注意:in case引导目的状语从句与引导条件状语从句时的意思不一样。
结果状语从句
结果状语从句
It rained so heavily that I was late for school.
雨下得太大了,以至于我迟到了。
定义:由句子充当结果状语
1. 概念
结果状语从句
在句子中作结果状语的从句称为结果状语从句。结果状语从句一般置于句尾。常用来引导结果状语的引导词或短语有:so、so that、so...that...、such that、such...that...、that等。
2. 用法
结果状语从句
1.so...that...引导的结果状语从句
so...that...引导结果状语从句,意为“如此......以至于”
例:Tom is so young that he can’t go to school.
汤姆太小了,以至于他不能上学。
(考试中常考察结构的转换)
2. 分类
结果状语从句
例:Tom is so young that he can’t go to school.
Tom drives so fast that he always runs into an accident.
Tom is such a young boy that he can’t go to school.
Tom is such an careless driver that he always has an accident.
It’s such nice music that every one likes it.
结构:....so + adj. / adv. that 句子.
结构:....such (a/an) + (adj.) +名词 + that 句子.
结果状语从句
注意:在以下结构中,so也可以加名词再加从句。例:
I have so many homework that I can go out to play.
I want to have so much money that I can buy whatever I want.
结构:....so many +可数名词复数 that 句子.
结构:....so much +不可数名词 + that 句子.
结果状语从句
so ... that 和such ....that 两种结果状语从句还可以与其他结构转化。
例:Tom is so young that he can’t go to school.
=Tom is such a young boy that he can’t go to school.
=Tom is too young to go to school.
=Tom is not old enough to go to school.
结构:...too+adj./ adv. + to 动词原形/ 动词短语
结构:... not adj./ adv. enough to 动词原形/ 动词短语
