精讲点拨 多位数的表达与读法 英语中1000以上的基数词的表示法：要使用计数间隔或逗号“，”。即先从右向左数，每隔三位加一个间隔或逗号。第一个间隔或逗号前是thousand（千），第二个间隔或逗号前是million（百万），第三个间隔或逗号前是a billion(十亿)。 ◆ 每隔三位分段以后就都成了101—999。读的时候按百位数读就可以了。如：888,000,000读作：eight hundred and eighty-eight million eg：8,782：eight thousand, seven hundred and eighty-two 65,257：sixty-five thousand, two hundred and fifty-seven 365, 262：three hundred and sixty-five thousand, two hundred and sixty-two 60,163,250：sixty million, one hundred and sixty-three thousand, two hundred and fifty 注意： ◆ 英语没有“万”这个单位，要表示“万”须借用thousand，如“一万”用“十个千”表示（ten thousand），“十万”用“百个千”表示（one hundred thousand）。 ◆ 在hundred后通常加上连词and。若读数中没有hundred，则在thousand后加and eg：2,002：two thousand and two 421,813：four hundred and twenty-one thousand eight hundred and thirteen 52,401,564,789：fifty-two billion four hundred and one million five hundred and sixty-four thousand seven hundred and eighty-nine 如何表示事物的长、宽、高 在英语中，表示事物的长、宽、高等时，主要有两种表达方式： 基数词+单位词(meter(s)/foot(feet)/inch(es)/mile(s)/kilometer(s))+形容词(long/wide/high/deep等) 基数词+单位词(meter(s)/foot(feet)/inch(es)/mile(s)/kilometer(s))+in+名词(length/width/height/depth等) 表示长度单位的词milefootinchkilometer英里英尺英寸千米decimetercentimetermillimetermeter分米厘米毫米米
eg：It is about 100 meters long from my house to the theater. 从我家到剧场大约100米。The well is about 5 meters deep. 这口井大约5米深。 This ruler is 20 centimeter long. 这把尺子有20厘米长。 =This ruler is 20 centimeter in length. The giraffe is three feet high. =The giraffe is three feet in height. 长颈鹿有三英尺高。 Qomolangma is higher than any other mountain in the world. “any other +可数名词的单数”，意为“任何其他的” any other“其他任何一个”，后接可数名词单数；指在同一范围内除了某人或某物以外的其他任何人或物；通常用于比较级，多用于同一范围内相比较。 eg：Shanghai is bigger than any other city in China. 上海比中国的其他城市都大。 Tom runs faster than any other student in his class. 汤姆跑得比班上任何一个学生都快。 “any other +可数名词单数” 可与 “the other +可数名词复数”互换，也可用最高级形式表达。 eg：Lucy is more careful than any other student in her class. (any other+可数名词单数） =Lucy is more careful than the other students in her class. China has the biggest population in the world. population是一个集合名词，意为“人口；人口数量”。其常见用法如下： population常与定冠词the连用，作主语时，谓语动词常用第三人称单数形式。 eg：The world's population is increasing faster and faster. 世界人口增长得越来越快。 China has the biggest population in the world. 中国是世界上人口最多的国家。 当分数或百分数修饰population作主语时，谓语动词用复数形式。 eg：About seventy percent of the population in this country are farmers. 这个国家大约百分之七十的人口是农民。 有时population可用作可数名词，其前可用不定冠词。 eg：It is a big city with a population of over 10 million.它是一个有千多万人口的大城市。 表示人口的多少，不用much或little，而要用large或small。 eg：China has large population and Singapore has a small population. 中国人口多，新加坡人口少。 询问某国、某地有多少人口时，不用“How much……”；而用“What’s the population of…… ”。 eg：－What’s the population of China？中国有多少人口 －1411780000人。
