How many times did Xia Boyu try to climb the Qomolangma
Five times.
Why did he want to climb Qomolangma at the age of 69
Because he wanted to achieve his dream.
What do you think of him
Double amputee (双侧截肢者) Xia Boyu
successfully reached the top of Qomolangma
at the age of 69. He finally completed his
dream in 2018. “Climbing Qomolangma is my
dream. I have to realize it.” Xia said.
It was not the first time Xia tried it. In 1975 he tried to climb Qomolangma, and it would change his life forever. During a storm, he left his sleeping bag with a teammate who was sick. Sadly, Xia suffered severe frostbite (严重冻伤) and had to amputate (截肢) his feet. Xia never gave up on Qomolangma and tried to climb it again in 2014, 2015, and 2016. He finally achieved his lifelong dream in 2018.
