In my freshman year, I asked myself, “Why am I in school ” I thought I was forced to be there, but I decided just to get along with it until I could find it meaningful.
One day it finally hit me. We were studying Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet in our writing class. Each of us was asked to play a part, and I jokingly volunteered to play the nurse. They all laughed, thinking that I, a boy, couldn’t play it, but I decided I was going to be the best nurse ever to appear in the writing class. On the day of the performance, I made it a success, and then I knew what school meant to me. School was then a place where I could explore unknown areas in my mind. Perhaps I hadn’t realized that before because I had never been brave enough to discover it.
To my new-found hunger for learning, I decided that I wouldn’t be shy any more. I began raising my hand higher in class discussions. In oral communication class, I chose unpopular speech topics and made them interesting. In British literature class, I chose to write a song for a creative project. Through these activities, I made classes interesting not only for me, but also for my classmates and teachers.
In short, I have discovered that learning is not something teenagers are forced to experience. Instead, learning is a way teenagers grow. What I want to tell my classmates is that I am a brave and creative actor, musician and writer, whose name each of my teachers knows by the end of their first class, and will be reinforced (增强) each day through my brave behavior.

We’ve seen aliens in a vast variety of Hollywood films, but which is closer to the truth As our understanding of the universe grows, scientists are beginning to think what these aliens might look like.
Opinions can be certainly different, but scientists are forming their opinions on the basis of environment and biology rather than science novels. Does that mean we’re closer to the answer Of course not! Read on below to see the different forms of life scientists are predicting.
Dr Maggie thinks aliens may be jellyfish(水母). She bases this on how life began in the ocean here on Earth and draws the conclusion that creatures in the ocean could interact(相互作用) with water. Some scientists think aliens may be bugs. Cockroaches (蟑螂) are among our planet’s strongest creatures thanks to their thick exoskeleton(外骨骼) and they are able to survive in different conditions. This makes a bug-style life form. Simon, a scientist working at Cambridge University, thinks that aliens would be “just like humans”, not only in appearance and biology but also in weakness.
Have you got any ideas about what aliens might look like

【范文赏析】
I once saw some aliens in my dream. Last weekend, I went climbing with some of my friends. When we reached the top of the mountain, a strong wind blew. Then we saw a spaceship coming down from the sky. we felt very surprised and excited. But we saw nothing at that time. In the evening, when we were ready to sleep in the tent, we saw some aliens standing near us. They were tall and strong and their teeth were as sharp as knives. When they saw us, they were frightened, staring at us.
So we waved our hands to greet them, but they didn’t respond to us. Then they walked into their spaceship and flew away.
