I.Teaching goals:
1.Get students to understand the whole passage.
2.Improve the students’ ability of gathering information .

II.Teaching important points:
1.Let the students master the key words in this part,such as annoyed、adjust、forgive、embarrassment and so on.
2.Help students get the main ideas and some detailed information by fast-reading and careful reading.
III.Teaching difficult points:
1.Training students to grasp the skills of fast-reading and getting the text’s structure..
2.Stimulate students’ reading interests of learning English by reading the text.
IV.Teaching aids:multimedia、ppt documents、textbook.
V.Teaching procedure:
Step1.Pre-reading
Greeting and leading-in:Show the pictures to students with PPT ,and ask students to discuss in groups and answer relevant questions .
Step2.Fast-reading
Task1.Find out the main idea of the passage.
Task2.Let students read the text quickly and then answer the following questions.
According to the text,what are little white lies
Should we tell white lies
How can we tell whether a lie is a white one or not
Step3.Careful reading
Ask students read the text again and answer the following questions.
What is the function of the first paragraph
To introduce the topic of the whole passage.
