2. I am afraid I don’t like cheese. 我恐怕我不喜欢奶酪。
I’m afraid I...常用于有礼貌地拒绝他人,意为“恐怕我……”。如:
I’m afraid I can’t go to the zoo with you this Sunday.
恐怕这个星期日我不能和你一起去动物园。
I’m afraid so/not. 常用在日常交际中,意为“恐怕是这样/不行”。如:
—Will you be back before 10 o’clock 10点前你会回来吗?
—I’m afraid not. 恐怕不行。
Language points
3. Apple pie sounds nice. 苹果派听起来不错。
sound为系动词,意为“听起来”,后常接形容词作表语。如:
This sentence sounds right. Please write it down.
这个句子听起来是对的,请把它写下来。
本课中还有几个感官动词也可作系动词,其后跟形容词作表语。如:
look, taste, feel, smell。
All the children look happy. The soup tastes too salty.
The bed feels hard. The cookies smell delicious.
