Module 5 Relatives
Units and thematic content:
In this module, Ps learn how to name and describe family members. In Unit 9, Jiamin visits Ben, and he is looking at the family photos and ask questions and talk about Ben’s family. Ben tells some information about his family members. In Unit 10, Ms White asks Jiamin about the people in his family.
Grammar and communicative functions
Who … For asking about a person’s identity, for example, Who is he Who are they
There is/are … to refer to a person or something.
The apostrophe-s for referring to individual families, for example, Jiamin’s family. Or stating relationships between family members, e.g. li Fang’s family
Adj in complement position of a sentence: The man is strong. Or in noun phrases, e.g. a cute baby,etc
How many … are there … For asking quantity and the answers to it, esp. There is one.

Learning and teaching objectives:
To learn how to refer to family relationships and how to describe people.
To talk about family members and describe their appearance.
To love and cherish every family members.
To use the new language in speaking, listening and reading and writing.
Teaching and learning steps:
1. Warm up: let’s chant: I love my family( Watch the video and have fun in doing the movements when chanting. Go over some of the family members of identities and the adjectives of describing a person.
2. PPT and look at the pictures and answer. Just to go over the fruits and the persons in the dialogues in Unit 8, then point to the headdresses and tell the relationship. Then understand people and the new word relatives( people of the family).
3. Make a mind map together with the children.如图所示。。。
4. teach all the relatives and name the close one and tell the difference of “uncle” “aunt”, then tell some jokes about the relatives.
Uncles and aunts are not only your relatives, but also some of your father or mother’s friends or colleagues.
Old lady or old man cannot be called as “grandma” or “grandpa”.
Cousins and the brothers and sisters are different greatly.
5. Have fun and talk about the teacher’s family as a demo. Then ask some information about the children’s family. Then take notes on the blackboard. Then We solve the sentence patterns and the new words.
6. Game: Guessing game. Use the information we taken just now, and guess who are we talking about.
7. Exercise on the newspaper.
教学反思:
家庭成员的描述,因为学生的记忆单词花费的时间比较多,所以我在第一课时,先解决了这个问题。对于father, mother 的拼写,上学期就有很多学生是拼写错了mother的,所以我特别针对去讲了并且通过教学grandfather, grandmother进行巩固和操练。

1. Go over the vocabulary of the family members and then check the spelling of them.
2. Have fun in playing the game. Use the adjectives to describe them.
3. Learn the adjectives.
4. Use the adjectives and finish the exercises on the book
5. Present the dialogue and set the situation.
6, Learn to read and recite the dialogue and then ask Ps to act out the dialogue in roles.
7. Show time.
8. Further learning. Use the new vocabulary to talk about the people on Page 52.
9. Show your own family photos and talk about it with your partners. Then show time.
教学反思:
课堂中进行形容词的教学,我用了多种方法,除了自然拼读法作为.教学策略以外,我还用了反义词、近义词等教学策略。还有,坚持词在句中学,句在语篇中学,交际为中心。所以教学效果还是很不错的。
