UNIT 1 Stay Healthy
Unit Review
首先通过单元末的歌曲导入新课,接着通过游戏复习本单元的新学单词和短语,通过填空练习让学生掌握本单元的相关词形变化。然后,讲解语法——should和need的用法,并处理教材中相应的练习。接着是听说训练。另外,通过运用本单元所学句子谈论Emily的身体状况,达到学以致用的目的。最后,处理自我检测和当堂达标。整个设计遵循“单词——短语——语法”的顺序进行,讲练结合,并把听说融入其中,穿插进行,浑然一体。
教学目标
通过本课节的教学,学生达成以下目标:
1. 知识目标
(1)复习本单元所学单词、短语和句型。
(2)归纳总结情态动词should和need的用法。
(3)完成本课节的相关练习。
2. 能力目标
(1)能正确运用情态动词should和need;
(2)能听懂有关谈论身体健康的对话;
(3)能运用所学语言谈论自己或他人的身体状况。
3. 情感目标
了解有关健康知识,养成良好的生活习惯。

Step 1 Warming up
Play the song: Move Your Whole Body

Step 2 Revision
Review the words and phrases of this unit.
1. Ask the students to choose one of the numbers. Let them read and translate the words into Chinese.

Step 4 Grammar
Sum up the grammar.
一、should的用法
should意为“应该,应当”,作情态动词,后面接动词原形,没有人称和数的变化。否定形式在其后面加上not,可以缩写为shouldn’t(不应该)。变为一般疑问句的时候,把should提到主语之前。它的用法主要有:
1.提出意见或建议。
We should go to the hospital right now. 我们应该立刻去医院。
You should turn off the light when you leave the room.
当你离开房间时应该关上灯。
2.表示征求同意或征询意见,用于主语为第一人称的疑问句。
Should I close the door 我应该关门吗?
When should we visit the museum 我们应该什么时候参观博物馆?
Where should I put the bike 我应该把自行车放在哪儿?
二、need的用法
need作情态动词时,意为“需要”,无人称和数的变化,后接动词原形,多用在否定句或疑问句中。
You needn’t worry. 你不必担心。
—Need we go there right now?我们需要立刻去那儿吗?
—Yes, you must./No, you needn’t.是的,你们必须。/不,你们不必。
【注意】①由need引起的一般疑问句,肯定回答常用must;否定回答用needn’t或don’t have to。
②回答must引起的一般疑问句,否定回答常用needn’t或don’t have to,不用mustn’t。
—Must I go now?我必须现在走吗?
—No, you needn’t/don’t have to.不,你不必。
【拓展】need还可以用作实义动词,意为“需要”。
主要用法有:
(1) need sth. 需要某物
Plants need water to grow. 植物生长需要水。
(2) need to do sth. 需要做某事(主语为人)
Bob needs to take an X-ray. 鲍勃需要拍X光。
(3) need doing sth.= need to be done (某物)需要(被)……(主语为物)
The room needs cleaning. = The room needs to be cleaned. 房间需要被打扫。
Step 5 Grammar in Use
Ⅰ. Need can be used as a modal verb as well as an ordinary verb.
Read the following sentences and circle need where it is used as a modal verb.
·Danny needs to stay in the hospital tonight. We may need to take an X-ray.
·She thought that I needed to go to a dentist.
·You be afraid.
· we balance our diet and eat foods from each food group

B: Yes, we must. /No, we . /No, we don’t have to.
(1) The students should complete the exercise independently.
(2) Ask the students to compare their answers in groups. Then write two more sentences: One where need is used as a modal verb and the other where need is used as an ordinary verb.
(3) Have each group read aloud the sentences they wrote to the class.
Ⅱ. Complete the passage with should or need.
Some teenagers are overweight. That means they are eating too much of the wrong foods. If you want to keep fit, you ________ have a balanced diet. Things like cake and cookies are high in calories and fat, but you ________ not stop eating them completely. Just make sure you don’t eat too much of them. You ________ avoid drinking too much soda and juice.
(1) Students can complete the passage with a partner.

Step 6 Listening and Speaking
Ⅰ. Listen to the dialogue and answer the questions.

Yesterday my dad felt sick. Today I feel sick. My stomach doesn’t feel well. Does my stomach hurt No, there’s no pain. But I don’t want to eat, and I have a headache and a fever. What do you think I’ve got
(1) Instruct the students to work in pairs to read Emily’s chart and diagnose her according to her symptoms. Ask the students to write out their diagnosis and give reasons for their diagnosis.
(2) Have each pair share their diagnoses with the class.
