Step 1. Lead-in
Point out a map of London. Tell the students to take a short tour of London following the map.
Step 2. Learn some places
①Show the pictures of Activity 4
Eg, tower, bridge , church , museum ,palace, store
Then finish Activity 4
②do exercises on page 70 Activity 10
Step 3. Learn the passage
①Show a map of London then follow the tour
The square---------the National Gallery--------Buckingham Palace-------Houses of Parliament, Big Ben-------London Eye---------River Thames----------Tower Bridge--------Tower of London---------River Thames----------the station-----the market------the church---------the square
②Finish Activity 2 Mark the places on the map .Then check the answers
③Listen to the tape , do a T\F exercise
For example: The National Gallery is a museum with lots of paintings.
It is opposite the middle of London.
The Queen lives in the Gallery.
④Listen to the tape again ,then answer some questions.
Eg: Where is the middle of London
Where does the Queen live
Where can we see most of London on a clear day
How old is the Tower of London
⑤Follow the tape and read the passage. Underline the phrases
Step 4. Practise
Play a game. If I stand in A , I will give the direction, then you guess where it finishes.
Step 5. Homework
Write directions from the Square to Tower Bridge.
