Lesson 17: Staying Safe in an Earthquake
首先,通过观看地震的视频导入新课。接着,通过师生讨论地震的相关问题教授生词和表达,在跟读单词后,利用Let’s Do It! No.3 巩固新学短语。然后,通过速读把课文分成两部分,并给出每部分的主要意思;通过细读后完成任务、匹配、填表和听后找短语并翻译等环节渐次深入地学习课文;并让学生根据思维导图复述课文。最后,分组讨论震后做哪些事来帮助他人,进行思想教育。整个教学,由知识学习过渡到思想教育,体现了“思想教育要渗透到知识教育中”的教学理念。

Watch a video about an earthquake.
Step 2 Presentation
1. Teach the new words earthquake, calm, object, system, survival and expressions stay calm, keep an eye out for, protect…from (doing)…,pull over, bring down by talking about the earthquake.
Teacher asks:
What’s happening
(An earthquake.)
What’s the most important thing when an earthquake comes
(It’s staying calm.)
Teacher says:
We need to keep an eye out for things around us. And we should find strong things to protect us from falling objects. If we’re in a car, we should pull over to an open area.
Also, an earthquake can destroy road, bring down the water system, electricity system, and so on. But if we stay calm, the chances of survival will go up.
