Lesson 13: Be Careful, Danny!
首先,通过问答学生知道的事故,导入新课。通过让学生思考自己的经历,让学生逐渐意识到安全的重要性。接下来,呈现本课生词,借助图片及句子语境,让学生体会意思,激发学生的学习兴趣。再通过把单词与英文释义搭配,让学生巩固单词记忆。学习新课,通过听对话判断正误和听对话回答问题,让学生有针对性地听取关键信息。接下来进行精读,包括回答问题,完成故事概述等。完成Let’s Do It! No. 3有关重点单词的练习。再通过角色表演这个故事,让学生读出不同人物的特点,在读中培养语感,进而让英语课堂更加有趣。讲解课文中的重难点,巩固所学英语知识。最后,通过当堂达标检测,检验学生对本节课的掌握情况。

Step 1 Lead-in
Ask the students to list some serious accidents that they know. Present some pictures if necessary.

Step 2 Thinking about it
Have you ever climbed onto a chair or a desk to reach something
Was it safe
What should you do if you see someone fall
Let some students share their experiences in front of the class.
Step 3 Presentation
1. Show some pictures to teach the new words safety, ambulance, careful, decorate, hang, ceiling, lie, serious, and necessary.
—My leg is broken.
—For your safety, we should call an ambulance.

Spring Festival is coming. They are decorating the house. Look! They are hanging some lanterns from the ceiling.

Step 4 Listening

Step 5 Reading
1. Get the class to look through the following questions. Then ask the class to read the passage in order to find the answers.

2. Ask them to work out the answers in groups.
3. Elicit answers by asking individual students to read the sentences out.

4. Let the students work in pairs and work out the facts about the accident.
(1) Why did Danny climb onto the chair
(2) Was Danny careful

Answers: (1) Because he couldn’t reach the ceiling.

5. Let them read again and fill in the blanks.
Beginning Danny was going to a star from the ceiling. He thought he was tall and didn’t need a ladder. Middle Danny fell down from the chair. Brian tried to Danny, but Danny on top of him. End Danny’s tail hurt a little, but it was not . Brian’s hurt, too.
