Throughout the world, museums allow people to explore new cultures and topics through their collections and exhibitions. Check out this comprehensive list of the best museums and galleries throughout the world with one-of-a-kind displays that educate and inspire.
Musée D'Orsay in Paris
The Musée D'Orsay, once a railway station, houses an internationally famous collection of Impressionist art and other Western pieces from 1848 and 1914. Started in 1986, the white limestone walls are now home to some of the most notable artworks in France, like sculptures by Auguste Rodin and paintings by Paul Gauguin.
Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa in Cape Town
With the help of design firm Heatherwick Studio, the once century-old grain silo (谷粮仓) in the heart of Cape Town transformed into a museum which hosts international events and exhibitions to provide an intercultural look into the world of African art. Works from revolutionary artists such as Kudzanai Chiurai of Zimbabwe and Wangechi Mutu of Kenya decorate the nine floors of the museum.
Bangkok National Museum
The first national museum in Thailand, whose structures can date back to 1782, when they served as the palace of Prince Wang Na. Nearly 100 years later, the grounds were transformed into a museum with three differently themed galleries: a Thai History Gallery, an Archaeological and Art History collection, and a Decorative Arts and Ethnological Collection.
The National Palace Museum in Taipei
The National Palace Museum included artwork from the Ming and Qing dynasties. The permanent collection features nearly 700,000 pieces of imperial artifacts and includes calligraphic works by Tang Yin.

Mike Mushaw joined the national bone marrow registry (骨髓登记) three years ago by chance. Six months later, he got a call. The 21-year-old football player's bone marrow matched a patient in Virginia. Mushaw gave a second thought to the donation, because apart from some risks, he never knew whether his donation worked.
“Finally I said yes,” Mushaw told the journalist. “Once they took my blood, I thought, ‘All right, this is real. This is going to happen.’”
Mushaw didn't know it at the time, but his donation would go to a five-month-old girl named Eleanor who was sick with a rare disease diagnosed when she was only three months old. Days and weeks passing, her condition had become more dire.
“Eleanor was going to die without a bone marrow transplant,” her mother, Jessica, said. “The choices were to either get a transplant or die early. Luckily, Mushaw’s bone cured her.”
Mushaw didn't know any of this until months after his donation. About six months after the procedure, Eleanor's parents sent him an e-mail to thank him for his selfless love.
Their surprising connection was beginning. Mushaw kept checking on her progress. Eleanor focused her attention on him, too, by watching his football games on TV. In August, Mushaw invited her family to drive from Virginia to Connecticut to meet at one of his games. They had a good time together.
In January, Mushaw reunited with Eleanor, this time in Virginia, to celebrate her birthday. It will likely be first of many celebrations together. “As a parent, it feels really great to watch someone love your kid as much as you do,” Jessica says. “We were two complete strangers, and now we've become such a big part of each other's lives.”
24.Why did Mushaw hesitate at first
A.He was a football player.
B.He would face some danger.
C.He knew it wouldn't work at all.
D.He didn't know whether his risks were worthy.

A.Kind but hesitant. B.Active and confident.
C.Worried but energetic. D.Selfless and considerate.
27.What can we learn through Mushaw's story
A.Why health matters. B.Never make excuses.
C.How to be a good person. D.Love brings people together.

In a new study published by the British Ecological Society, experts report that a widely available coffee waste product can be used to speed up the recovery of tropical forests that have been used for agricultural practices.
The study was conducted in Coto Brus county in southern Costa Rica on a former coffee farm. Researchers from the University of Hawaii spread 30 truckloads of coffee waste on degraded (退化的) land in Costa Rica. The team also marked a piece of untreated land. “The results were dramatic,” said study lead author Dr. Rebecca Cole. “The area treated with a thick layer of coffee waste turned into a small forest in only two years while the control land remained dominated by non-native grasses.”
Former tropical agricultural land is often very degraded with poor soil quality, which can delay forest recovery. The researchers found that nutrients including carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorous were significantly higher in the area treated with the coffee waste product. In addition, the addition of coffee waste removed the grasses that dominated the land, allowing native trees to quickly become established.
“This case study suggests that agricultural by-products (副产品) can be used to speed up forest recovery on degraded tropical lands,” said Dr. Cole. In situations where dealing with these by-products incurs an increase in the cost to agricultural industries, using them to recover the forest can represent a ‘win-win’ solution.”
Dr. Cole noted that further research is needed to test the use of coffee waste in forest restoration. “We would like to extend the study by testing this method across a variety of degraded sites in the landscape. Also, this concept could be tasted with other types of agricultural by-products like orange husks,” said Dr. Cole.
“We hope our study is a jumping off point for other researchers and industries to take a look at how they might make their production more efficient by creating links to the global restoration movement.”
28.How did the researchers conduct the study in paragraph 2
A.By analyzing data. B.By making comparison.
C.By making a survey. D.By asking for advice.
29.Which of the following can replace the underlined word “incur” in the fourth Paragraph
A.bring. B.replace. C.maintain. D.remove.
30.What can we infer according to Dr. Cole
A.They will increase the coffee planting. B.They will enlarge their research range.
C.They will continue to plant more oranges. D.They will apply the research to all by-products.
31.Which may be the best title of the passage
A.Coffee waste can help agriculture.
B.Coffee planting can help the recovery of tropical forest.
C.Coffee waste can speed up the recovery of tropical forest.
D.Coffee planting help with the growth of tropical agriculture.

Nearly two years after the COVID-19 outbreak, China has granted approval to its first antibody combination therapy (治疗) for COVID-19 treatment, adding a tool to the world’s fight against the disease.
A team from Tsinghua University, along with the Shenzhen People’s Hospital, has accomplished the task in 20 months. It would usually take 10 years. “It can reduce the rate of hospitalization (住院治疗) and death by 80 percent,” said Zhang Linqi, leader of the research team.
The new antibody drug is immediately effective after being used. Moreover, the therapy can protect people, especially those whose physical condition doesn’t allow vaccination (接种疫苗), from becoming infected by COVID-19 for around 9 to 12 months, said Zhang.
How does it work When a virus infects a cell, it relies on an important type of protein: the spike proteins (刺突蛋白) on its surface. The spike proteins serve as a key to unlocking a cell. If a virus cannot enter a cell, it will disappear immediately. The job of our antibodies is to block the virus from entering cells. So its target is very precise. In addition, thanks to the coordination between the two antibodies, it is highly efficient in preventing the virus, according to Zhang. The qualities of the new drug make it especially useful for high-risk groups, such as frontline medical workers and people not suitable for vaccination due to various underlying health problems.
The new drug is expected to come to the market soon, but it’s not cheap. That’s because of limited production. Noting that China has used science and technology to fight COVID-19 since the beginning of the outbreak, Zhang said, “Science is the key to solving the issue. Science has shown its power in all sectors, from medical treatment, medicine and vaccine development to prevention and control measures.”
32.What can we know about the new drug according to paragraph 1 and paragraph 2
A.It’s the only way to treat COVID-19.
B.It dramatically improves the survival rate of patients.
C.It takes researchers 10 years to develop the new drug.
D.It was developed by the team from one of China’s top universities.
33.Which statement does the author probably agree with
A.Only medical workers can take this drug.
B.Antibodies stop spike proteins entering a cell.
C.The new medicine takes effect after a period of use.
D.The new drug can protect people from infection for life.
34.Who are best suited for the drug according to the passage
A.Doctors and nurses. B.The elderly and children.
C.People without vaccination. D.Patients and their family members.
35.What can be inferred from the last paragraph
A.The drug will be easily available.
B.The new drug has been put into use.
C.Zhang had a high regard for the power of science.
D.China is the first country to use technology to fight disease.

(Text 1)
W: Tim, are you OK
M: Yes, I’m fine! I’ve been playing table tennis with Andy. We were playing in the game room but then we moved the table out into the garden. I’ve just come to get some tap water!
(Text 2)
W: Do we have homework for Monday I don’t have anything written down.
M: Nothing to read in the textbook, but we have to see a movie and write a paragraph about it.
(Text 3)
W: Could I have a few more minutes to finish
M: I’m afraid not. It’s a timed test.
(Text 4)
W: Weren’t you supposed to be here an hour ago
M: Sorry, but there was a long line of vehicles that couldn’t move for miles.
(Text 5)
M: When does the next bus leave for New York
W: Buses leave for New York every half hour. You just missed the nine-thirty bus by ten minutes.
(Text 6)
W: What’s your favorite branch of science, Mike
M: I have studied biology, chemistry and physics for seven years during secondary school. I decided that chemistry was my favorite and I wanted to do it to a higher level. I recently started my second year of university on a chemistry degree.
W: That’s cool. What are the career opportunities after graduating
M: A college education seems to prepare most chemistry majors for research or lab work, but there are many paths that are open to a chemistry major. So I think my major leads to excellent career prospects.
(Text 7)
M: … and that’s how the sheep got into the house. Next up, it’s Allie with the weather.
W: Hello there.
M: Is it raining at the moment
W: No, it’s stopped raining. This morning, there were light winds and a few showers and there’s still a lot of rain on the ground here. In fact, this afternoon, the showers should be replaced by sunshine. We’re expecting temperatures of about 20 or 21 degrees, so it will be quite warm for this time of year! And it means that there’ll be great weather for anyone planning a picnic this afternoon.
M: Thank you Allie, that’s great to hear!
(Text 8)
M: Mary, I’ve just finished my listening class. It was a bit difficult.
W: Why not enjoy some social activities They give you a chance to practice your English. I’ve just picked up a schedule today.
M: Let’s have a look. What are they doing tonight
W: They’ve got Singing with Guitar on Monday night. They teach you traditional British folk songs. It starts at 8 and lasts for two hours.
M: I’m not much of a singer. And I’ve got a lecture early tomorrow morning. A BBC journalist is going to talk about his experiences. Look, there’s International Evening on Wednesday in the school hall.
W: Yeah, students from all over the world will sing international songs. Would you like to go and see it
M: Yes. Another thing I want to do this weekend is go to Stratford-on-Avon. You have to sign up at the student services office in advance. I’ve got time right now. So I think I’ll go ahead and sign my name.
(Text 9)
W: Henry, I need your advice on my job application letter.
M: OK. Let me see … Well, in Britain, a photo is not expected. It’s unnecessary to include your hobbies as well, because they have nothing to do with the job you’re applying for. I can’t see here that you’ve got a driving license.
W: I didn’t mention it because almost everyone here my age has one. Do I need to put it on my letter
M: Yes. And you’re fluent in Chinese, right
W: Yes. I studied in Nanjing for almost two years as an exchange student. My spoken Chinese is pretty good. I know about 2,000 Chinese characters. I picked up some French while I was teaching Japanese in Paris, but I’m hardly fluent.
M: So let’s include three languages as your skills. Your educational background in Japan is fine, and so is being a teacher in Paris. Why didn’t you mention that you worked for your uncle before
W: I only worked for a month when his office assistant was away. I did photocopying and typing mostly. But I’m not very good at typing. I was too ashamed to include it. Besides, what would happen if anyone gave me a typing test
(Text 10)
I live in a small town. Three years ago, my friends and I decided to convince our local community of the need for a proper park. We soon formed an action group consisting of students, teachers, parents and others — all led by local restaurant owner Martin Ashton. The next thing the action group had to do was to start raising money. We persuaded our school to organize a concert and all the ticket money went towards the park fund. Apart from this, we did everything we could think of to raise money — I took away the rubbish and others organized sales of second-hand books and stuff like that. Six months later, we only had 185, 000. But our target budget was 200,000. In the meantime, John Richardson was helping out with the planning stage of the project. He works as an architect in London and has got close links with colleagues in the United States. They have a company called Xcite, who has won awards for their park design. So the action group held a community meeting. Almost ninety-eight percent said yes to Xcite. Now we have this fantastic new park.

根据第一段最后一句“Mushaw gave a second thought to the donation, because apart from some risks, he never knew whether his donation worked.(Mushaw重新考虑了捐赠,因为除了一些风险,他从不知道他的捐赠是否有效。)”
根据第三段第一句“Mushaw didn't know it at the time, but his donation would go to a five-month-old girl named Eleanor who was sick with a rare disease diagnosed when she was only three months old. (Mushaw当时并不知道,他的捐款将捐给一个名Eleanor的5个月大的女孩。埃莉诺在3个月大时就被诊断出患有一种罕见的疾病。)”以及第四段第一句““Eleanor was going to die without a bone marrow transplant,” her mother, Jessica, said.(如果不进行骨髓移植,Eleanor就会死去,”她的母亲Jessica说。)” 故选A项。
26.
根据第五段内容“Mushaw didn't know any of this until months after his donation. About six months after the procedure, Eleanor's parents sent him an e-mail to thank him for his selfless love.(Mushaw捐款几个月后才知道这些。手术后大约六个月,Eleanor的父母给他发了一封电子邮件,感谢他无私的爱。)”以及最后一段第一句内容“In January, Mushaw reunited with Eleanor, this time in Virginia, to celebrate her birthday. (1月,Mushaw和Eleanor团聚,这次是在弗吉尼亚,庆祝她的生日。)”可知,Mushaw的捐赠以及为被捐助者庆祝生日,都可以体现出Mushaw的无私和体贴。故选D项。
27.
推理判断题。根据最后一段最后两句““As a parent, it feels really great to watch someone love your kid as much as you do,” Jessica says. “We were two complete strangers, and now we've become such a big part of each other's lives.”(Jessica说:“作为一名家长,看到有人像自己一样爱自己的孩子,感觉真的很棒。”“我们曾经是完全陌生的两个人,现在我们已经成为彼此生活中如此重要的一部分。”)”以及结合全文内容可推知,我们能从Mushaw的故事中学到爱可以使人们紧紧地团结在一起。故选D项。

本文是说明文,介绍了利用咖啡废料来加速热带森林恢复这一方法及其相关研究。
28.
细节理解题。根据第二自然段“Researchers from the University of Hawaii spread 30 truckloads of coffee waste on degraded (退化的) land in Costa Rica. The team also marked a piece of untreated land.(夏威夷大学的研究人员在哥斯达黎加的退化土地上散布了30卡车咖啡垃圾。研究小组还标记了一块未经处理的土地)”和“The area treated with a thick layer of coffee waste turned into a small forest in only two years while the control land remained dominated by non-native grasses.(经过一层厚厚的咖啡废料处理的地区仅用了两年时间就变成了一座小森林,而对照地仍然是由非原生草类占据)”可知,研究中把经咖啡废料处理过的地块和未经处理的地块进行了比较,所以研究人员是通过比较来进行研究。故选B项。
29.
根据第四自然段“In situations where dealing with these by-products incurs an increase in the cost to agricultural industries, using them to recover the forest can represent a ‘win-win’ solution.(在处理这些副产品incurs农业成本增加的情况下,使用它们恢复森林意味着一个“双赢”的解决方案)”句中‘win-win’ solution(“双赢”的解决方案)可知,使用咖啡废料来恢复森林不但利好森林,而且利好农业,再根据dealing with these by-products incurs an increase in the cost to agricultural industries可推知,利好农业指的就是可以解决“处理像咖啡废料之类的副产品会带来成本增加的问题”,所以incurs是指“带来”。故选A项。
30.
根据第自然段“‘ We would like to extend the study by testing this method across a variety of degraded sites in the landscape. Also, this concept could be tasted with other types of agricultural by-products like orange husks,’ said Dr. Cole.(‘我们希望在各种不同类型的退化土地上测试这种方法来进行拓展研究。此外,也可以用其他类型的农业副产品来测试这一理念,比如橘皮,’科尔博士说)”可推知,Dr. Cole会从“对不同类型的退化土地进行测试”和“用其他类型的农业副产品来测试”两个方向来扩大研究范围。故选B项。
31.
主旨大意题。根据第一自然段“In a new study published by the British Ecological Society, experts report that a widely available coffee waste product can be used to speed up the recovery of tropical forests that have been used for agricultural practices.(在英国生态学会发表的一项新研究中,专家们报告说,很容易获得的咖啡废料可以用来加速曾用于农业生产的热带森林的恢复)”和文章其它内容可知,全文围绕“使用的咖啡废料来加速热带森林的恢复”这一研究展开,C项“Coffee waste can speed up the recovery of tropical forest.(咖啡垃圾可以加速热带森林的恢复)”是对文章内容最佳概括。

因此,根据第一段和第二段,我们对新药了解到的是B项“It dramatically improves the survival rate of patients.(它极大地提高了患者的存活率)”符合题意,故选B项。
33.
根据第四段“When a virus infects a cell, it relies on an important type of protein: the spike proteins (刺突蛋白) on its surface. The spike proteins serve as a key to unlocking a cell. If a virus cannot enter a cell, it will disappear immediately. The job of our antibodies is to block the virus from entering cells.
根据第四段“The qualities of the new drug make it especially useful for high-risk groups, such as frontline medical workers and people not suitable for vaccination due to various underlying health problems. (这种新药的质量使其特别适用于高危人群,如前线医务人员和由于各种潜在健康问题而不适合接种疫苗的人)”可知,这种新药适用于高危人群,如前线医务人员等。因此,根据文章,最适合服用这种药物的是A项“Doctors and nurses.(医生和护士)”符合题意,故选A项。
35.
推理判断题。根据最后一段“Science is the key to solving the issue. Science has shown its power in all sectors (科学是解决这个问题的关键。科学在各个领域都显示了它的力量)”可知,张认为,科学是解决疫情的关键,高度重视科学的力量。因此,从最后一段可以推断出的是C项“Zhang had a high regard for the power of science.(张高度重视科学的力量)”符合题意,故选C项。

36.
根据文章开头“Students of all ages might have more on their minds now than ever before — from work, to school to all of the other distractions (分心的事物) pulling at them. So how can they be expected to concentrate, focus and memorize the educational materials they have in front of them each night (各个年龄段的孩子们都有许多分心的事物导致他们不能集中精力,那我们应该怎么办呢?)”可知,文章开头作者提出了问题,接下来A选项“It’s really difficult.( 这真的很难)”,选项中的“It”指代前句的内容,并且与后面的“But fortunately”构成转折关系,起到承上启下的过渡作用。故选A项。
37.
根据下文中的“Seems like a no-brainer, but keeping an extra piece of paper nearby when you are in class or at home will allow you to keep a note of what you just learned.(看起来是无脑的行为,但是不管是在课堂还是在家,手头边有一张纸可以让你随时记下你刚刚学过的东西)”可知,本段主要说明了要多做笔记。
G选项中的“You can take 10 to 15 minutes to look over your notes and any material that you were given(每天花10到15分钟复习你的笔记和任何你手头上的资料)”与主旨句意思一致。故选G项。
39.
C选项“Put your focus on the one thing you are studying.(把你的精力放在你正在学习的一件事情上)”与主旨句意思一致。故选C项。
40.
E选项“Another way to help your memory is to break information into smaller pieces.(另外一个帮助你记忆的方法就是把信息切成更小的碎片)”与主旨句意思一致。

此处that引导的宾语从句中,playing video games为动名词做主语,is是系动词,bad做表语,when是多余的。故去掉when。
“半小时”表达为half an hour或者a half hour,故在half后加an或者half前加a。
此句中the areas为先行词,指物,后跟定语从句,从句中缺少主语,故应用that/which引导,故将where改为that/which。
此句主语为they,故后文代词应为their,故将your改为their。
