Two parents in very different circumstances (境况) told me their worries. One was a Google executive in New York City, who said, “I’m worried that my kids are growing up with too much money. How do I keep them from throwing their money around ” The second was a single mom from Los Angeles. She explained that her son was asking her for $150 jeans so that he could fit in with the cool crowd, and she didn’t know what to do.
To both parents I gave the same answer: Start talking about the value of money, the same way you’d teach your kid to tell the truth or be kind to others. Make sure they know what matters most to your family when it comes to money. Yes, we could afford fancy jeans, but they re not a priority for us.
When it comes to day-to-day lessons, the best way to teach your kids the value of a dollar is to give them actual dollars. When my daughter was 13, she wanted to go shopping with friends for back-to-school clothes. The other parents gave their girls a credit card or a debit card (借记卡) with a spending limit. Me I embarrassed my daughter by handing her $50 … in cash. The reason: I knew that when she got to the checkout line with more than $50 worth of goods, she’d have to make hard choices and put something back.
Additionally, sometimes it’s what you don’t do for your kid that counts. I will never forget the brave audience member at an event who asked me the question: “Should I get my son an Amex Platinum card All his friends use theirs to get into first-class airport lounges (等候室)when they travel.” “No,” I said. Always remember, you’ re the parent. You set the rules. And the rules will determine how your kid values money in the future.
24.What worried the first two parents
A. How to instruct their kids to make money.
B. How to teach their kids the value of money.
C. How to refuse their kids’ requests for more money.
D. How to raise their kids with small amounts of money.
25. What do the underlined words “a priority” in paragraph 2 mean
A. The most valuable gift.
B. A way to hide the truth.
C. The most important thing.
D. An excuse to please others.
26. What suggestion does the author give to parents in paragraph 3
A. Letting their kids pay in cash.
B. Limiting their kids’ pocket money.
C. Asking their kids to report their spending.
D. Reminding their kids to make a shopping list.
27. What message did the author have for the audience after saying "No"
A. Parents should protect their kids’ self-respect.
B. Parents should be strict about their kids’ spending.
C. Parents should help their kids fit in with their friends.
D. Parents should spend money wisely to influence their kids

Get Digital Scotland, Simon Community Scotland’s digital inclusion programme, is proud to announce the start of Get Connected 100! This is a Scotland-wide project giving 100 people experiencing homelessness access to the digital world.
Our Get Connected 100 project will connect and support 100 people to get online. Each participant(参与者)will receive a free digital device (设备)and unlimited connectivity for 12 months. In addition to free digital technology, frontline workers at Simon Community and in our partner organisations are trained as digital champions to provide person-centred support based around a digital skills learning framework(框架). The project will give people easy access at all times, right in their pocket, and support to build skills and confidence to get online.
Research from the University of the West of Scotland shows us that people who experience homelessness are among the most digitally excluded(排斥的) groups in our society. This is a great disadvantage in life which has been worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to COVID-19 we depend even more heavily on digital technology for many daily activities: socialising with friends, managing finances (资金),getting the latest news, accessing health services and having fun. Digital technology has never been so important to our lives.
The project is being funded by the Scottish Government. Housing Minister Kevin Stewart said:“I am glad to fund this project to support 100 people experiencing homelessness in getting connected to the digital world. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us that access to digital equipment, data and skills is a basic necessity. The funding, as part of our 100 million winter support package, will certainly help people deal with the additional financial pressures of winter and COVID-19.”
Last year, Simon Community Scotland funded a "Get Connected Pilot" in Edinburgh to develop and test this approach. We wanted to make sure people facing loneliness during lockdown could get support and be connected with loved ones and professional services. The results for the people who were part of the pilot were life changing. 100% of participants said that getting a connected device and support through this pilot positively affected their lives. Our pilot showed that digital access opens up a whole world of opportunities!
32. What will the Get Connected 100 project provide
A. Costless digital devices.
B. Improved broadband access.
C. Lifelong unlimited connectivity.
D. Training in communication skills.
33. What is paragraph 3 mainly about
A. How digital technology has changed our life.
B. Where digital technology will lead us.
C. Who the project will benefit most.
D. Why the project is needed.
34. How does Kevin Stewart sound in paragraph 4
A. Curious. B. Carefree. C. Confused. D. Confident.
35. What can we learn about the Get Connected 100 project from the last paragraph
A. It is sure to be successful.
B. It needs some improvements.
C. It will spread all over the world.
D. It has made a powerful difference.

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Sir William Osler has been called the “father of modern medicine.” His influence on the high standards of medical education was significant. Before Osler, it was common for medical students to graduate from medical school without ever examining a patient. 36 He devoted (奉献)himself to a system that taught students at the bedside in the hospital.
37 His style of teaching was inspiring, always including cheerful greetings for patients and always adding insightful criticisms(有见地的批评) for students—but never in a mean-spirited fashion.
38 In fact. Osler once said, “To study the phenomenon of disease without books is to sail an uncharted sea(在未知的海洋航行),while to study books without patients is not to go to sea at all.”
In addition to his role in making bedside teaching standard practice for medical education, Osler continually emphasized (强调) that medical school was not the end of education but just the beginning. 39 Osler fully realized that continuing medical education required hard work, but he emphasized that the benefits were well worth the effort.
True to the high value he placed on continuing education, Osler always addressed medical students as “fellow students.” He also believed that physicians needed to be well rounded. 40
Osler’s love of education was lifelong. His ideas clearly are as valuable today as they were more than 100 years ago; in fact, they are probably even more important today, given the rate of change in the medical knowledge base.
A. Osler disliked this approach to medical education.
B. He then showed great interest in medical education.
C. Osler was also famous for teaching during hospital rounds.
D. He asked his students to always carry a small notebook with them.
E. Osler’s emphasis was always on treating patients and not just diseases.
F. He suggested that all physicians spend at least 30 minutes in the evening reading the classics.
G. He always reminded students of the importance of continuing their educational development.

One possible version:
Use Serving Chopsticks
Good morning, everyone. It’s my great honor to deliver a speech about the benefits of using serving chopsticks.
As is often the case, Chinese people often share dishes to express intimacy and use their own chopsticks to serve others food. However, this may lead to the spread of diseases. Using the serving chopsticks is the proper way, which shows the concern and love for others, especially amid this COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, for the sake of people’s health, it’s high time that we should give up the old habit and begin to adopt this new dining practice “using serving chopsticks”. Let’s act now.
Thanks for your listening.
