where the cows and horses were kept.

Dr Martin Luther King was one of the greatest leaders of the 20th century. He was a fighter for the rights of African Americans all his life. There are many lessons that we can learn from him about being a better person and a better leader. Take these four points of his wisdom for example.

★ Believe that you are somebody. King said,
“Don’t allow anybody to make you feel that you’re nobody. Always feel that you are people of great worth, and always feel that your life has meaning.”
★ Happiness comes from making others happy. Bring joy to someone else’s life without thinking about what you can get in return. King explained,
“Those who are not looking for happiness are most likely to find it, because those who are looking for it forget that the best way to be happy is to find happiness for others.”
★ Let hope last forever. Research shows that hope helps patients live longer. Wake up with hope every day even if you’ve lost a job, money, your home or loved ones. King said,

“Step back, and let me do it,” 27-year-old Du Fuguo told his partner before a landmine exploded (地雷爆炸) in front of him. In the landmine clearing work in Yunnan on October 11, 2018, Du chose to face the dangerous situation by himself after asking his partner to step back. The explosion took Du’s both hands and eyes.
The field where Du was working that day is located in a forest. It was the front line of a war thirty years ago. And lots of landmines were laid there at that time. As time went by, the landform changed — some parts went upwards while some went down. That made the situation in the field more difficult and dangerous. The area became a “death zone” and nobody dares (敢) to enter it.
To protect the local people, in 2015, Du and over 400 soldiers (战士) started clearing landmines in the forest, where over 100 landmine fields were located. Since it was so difficult to see clearly in the forest that machines couldn’t help, the soldiers had to do the dangerous work by hand. Over the past several years, Du has entered landmine fields more than 1,000 times. He has removed (移除) more than 150 tons of bombs(炸弹), 400 landmines and faced more than 20 dangerous situations.
The explosion happened when Du and another soldier tried to remove a bomb. One month later, in November last year, Du’s team members finished the clearing work. The landmine field where the explosion happened is now safe enough to be used as the farmland.
“Though I lost my hands, I have legs to continue running after dreams; though I lost my eyes, my world remains colourful as long as the sun can rise in my heart,” Du said.
