Teaching and Learning Goals
Learn the thirty new words and expressions in Unit 9 within one class.Help students to pronounce the words correctly.Understand the different parts of speech.Know the Chinese meanings of each word.Try to spell them without looking at the books and use them into real life.Master the strategies of learning new words by students themselves.

Teaching and Learning steps
Step One Learn to pronounce the new words and expressions
Students teach themselves the words using the phonetics on Page 93-94.
Let students read aloud in groups.
Have individuals read the words and then others correct the pronunciation mistakes.
Read after the recording.Pay attention to the stresses.
Students practice reading the words.The teacher walks around the classroom and answer any questions students ask.
Check some individual students to see if they can pronounce all the new words correctly.
(设计意图:本环节主要是帮助学生正确认读该单元所有生词。依据2012新修订的英语课程标准改版的《Go for it!》教科书,更加注重了语音方面的学习和训练。每个单元独立设置了语音项目内容,旨在培养学生正确拼读单词和熟练运用合适语音语调的口语表达能力。通过学生自学,让他们逐步学会使用音标这个“拐棍”认读生词,避免死记硬背单词的发音,丢掉某些学生用汉字的音来标注英语单词发音的不良习惯。为减少七年级新生认读单词的困难,用小组互助、榜样示范、老师指点、跟读卡带等形式引导学生看音标读单词,并逐步掌握常用字母和组合的发音规则。这个过程一定要注意保护学生的学习兴趣和热情,不必有错立纠,或当众指责学生的错误之处。)

(设计意图:七年级上册的单词以名词为主。课堂上宜采用直观形象的图片辅助教学,学生学起来兴趣浓而且印象深刻。当然,学习生词有多种方法,通过上下文猜测词义、通过学过的相关词学习新词等等,要根据具体情况而定。)
Step Three Consolidation of words
Students are given several minutes to memorize the words with the help of the following parts.
Nouns: Subjects--- Chinese, math, science, geography, history, music, P.E.
Days---Sunday,Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday,Friday, Saturday
lesson,hour, A.M.,P.M.,Mrs.
Adjectives: favorite,useful,free,cool
Vrebs: finish
Other words: why—because, from…to…,for sure
1.Practice the words in oral looking at the Chinese on P99 in their guide books. Listen to the tape for the words to help correct their pronunciation mistakes.
2. Let students dictate the new words according to parts of speech. Then check the answers. They can help each other in pairs or groups. Circle the words they can’t spell out correctly. Go on with them after class.
(设计意图:本环节将本单元出现的30 个生词和短语按词类进行了分类,即把杂乱无章的词汇表重新编排使其有条理、有层次,便于学生理解和记忆。小组开展默写竞赛,互帮互学,激发学生参与的热情,进一步巩固了所学内容。)

My School Life
Hi, my name’s Linda. I’m in Class 2,Grade 7.I stay at school from Monday to Friday. Classes start at 8A.M.and finish at 5 P.M. On Saturday and Sunday I’m free. I can play sports for two hours.
I have many subjects at school. My favorite subject is science. Do you know why I like it ? I think it’s interesting. Chinese and math are very useful. I also like P.E. and music because they’re relaxing. I have geography lessons on Tuesday and Thursday. My history teacher is Mrs.Lee. She’s great fun. She always tell us history stories on Wednesday. I love my school. I love my school life. What about ?

Step Five Use the words with the mind map
1.Let students watch the mind map carefully. Try to grasp the logical relationship between the words.
2.Retell the passage in Step Four according to the mind map.
3. Students can make up their own stories with the words.

(设计意图:一个单元的词汇总会围绕着单元功能话题存在着一定的逻辑关系,思维导图就是用清晰可见的图示表明这种联系。借此导图引导学生将彼此孤立的单词联系起来,有利于对词汇的记忆和理解,为下一步的教材内容学习打下坚实基础。)

设计亮点:
本单元共有生词30个,以名词居多,计占20个.适于用形象的图片或实物进行词汇教学,并把单词置入一定的语境中,加深了学生对单词意义的理解。尤其是思维导图的设计,展现了本单元词汇之间的逻辑关系,并用本单元Grammar Focus 呈现的关键词what、why、when等连接起来,让学生对生词的运用奠定坚实的基础。这方面应是本课设计的亮点所在。
不足之处:
本单元虽然生词不多,但有些单词拼写较为复杂,如geography, Wednesday, favorite等,对七年级学生来说有一定的记忆难度。应在识词、记词方面多加方法指导,这方面做得不够。
使用建议:
本课词汇教学过程中,要充分发挥学生的积极主动性,多多鼓励学生,保护好他们的学习热情;用功能话题将词汇串联起来,形成思维的整体框架,避免单词的孤立学习。课前鼓励学生进行单元预习,以利于提高课堂学习的效率。
