2.参考范文
Paragraph 1:
A few days later, something terrible happened to Ronny. That afternoon after school , Ronny was bathing with some of his new friends in the river happily. Suddenly, he was stuck in the mud and couldn't get out. He struggled hard but he was still trapped. He screamed for help, but all in vain. The boys who had called Henry a coward got out of the water as fast as they could. They were so scared and did not even try to help him.
Paragraph 2:
At that moment, Henry happened to pass by. He heard the screams and ran to the river as soon as possible. Seeing Ronny was almost drowned, Henry took off his clothes immediately and jumped into the water without any hesitation. He reached Ronny just as he was sinking the last time . With great effort , and with much danger to himself , he brought Ronny to the shore in time . Henry was happy to help his friend , though he was extremely tired .回民高级中学校2021-2022学年高一下学期期中考试

The following top places that are worth visiting in China are recommended on the tourism website.
Gannan
Located in south western Gansu province and the northeast of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, Gannan has both Tibetan culture and spectacular plateau (高原) landscape. With the average altitude of 3, 000 meters above sea level, you can experience Tibetan culture and enjoy the plateau scenery, grand grasslands, Tibetan villages, unique mountain peaks, and hidden wonderlands without the risk of altitude sickness in October.
Yading
Yading, a place where you can gain insight into the Tibetan minority culture, can be available via Daocheng. The golden fall colors here are splendid. The red bushes of Hongcaodi combined with the yellow leaves under the clear blue sky are believed to exhibit the colors of heaven. The temples in these mountains represent the local Buddhist culture.
Kaili
Kaili is one of the best places as a base for exploring minority cultures. In Kaili, the museum, the Sunday market, and the villages nearby with their unique culture and architecture are all worth a visit. It is said that in Kaili“grand festivals occur there every three days, while minor ones occur every day.” Autumn is a perfect season for outdoor activities, when you can enjoy the flesh air and cool weather.
Mongolia Autonomous Region
October is a great time to visit Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. At this time, travelers can go to the quiet Ejina to enjoy the wonderful scenery of the area’s unique populous Euphratica Forest (胡杨林). The particularity of its geographical position has blessed Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region with rich travel resources including plains, deserts, sparkling lakes, and massive herds of cattle and sheep. In a new study released last week, researchers analyzed data from two large-scale surveys about how Americans spend their time.
The researchers found that people with more free time generally had higher levels of subjective well-being—but only up to a point. People who had up to two hours of free time a day generally reported they felt better than those who’d had less time. But people who had five or more hours of free time a day generally said they felt worse. So the free-time “sweet spot” might be two to three hours per day, the findings suggest.
“While too little time is bad, having more time is not always better,”said Marissa Sharif, an assistant professor of marketing at The Wharton School and lead author of the paper, in a press release. Of course, most people know that being too busy can cause stress. But the new study is not the first to question whether more free time will actually make people as happy as they believe it will. Experts note, for example, that some adults struggle with the “retirement blues”, which can be due to a lack of stimulation and structure among other things.
“Sweet spot” has to do with how people spend the extra time they have, the researchers behind the new study argue. They conducted several smaller online experiments. In one they asked participants to imagine having 3 to 7 free hours per day. They were asked to imagine spending that time doing “productive” things or to imagine doing “unproductive” activities. Study participants believed theft well-being would suffer if they spend the free time unproductively.
“Of course, what feels ‘productive’ is up to you. If watching two hours of ‘Real Housewives’ in your free time increases your happiness, you should do that. The point of all of this is self-care,not shame. In other words, how people use their free time matters.” Sharif added.
24. What feeling can be inferred from “retirement blues”
A. Thrilled. B. Depressed. C. Amazed. D. Disappointed.
25. Why did the researchers conduct the experiments
A. To prove people’s attitude towards free time matters.
B. To argue which survey has the convincing finding.
C. To make participants spend their spare time wisely.
D. To tell people less free time can actually cause stress.
26.What does the underlined word “productive” in Para. 5 refer to
A. Helping you reduce unnecessary stress.
B. Finishing more work within fixed time.
C. Making you feel good about yourself.
D. Ensuring you to take good care of yourself.
27. What’s the text mainly about
A. “Sweet spot” is concerned with people’s well-being.
B. More free time enables people to be much happier.
C. Productive activities make people save more time.
D. Proper spare time boosts people’s sense of happiness.

Beethoven is undoubtedly one of the greatest musicians. He completed 722 musical works. Unfortunately, the master died while still working on his 10th Symphony(交响曲). Now, a team of musicians and scientists have used artificial intelligence (AI) to complete the artist’s final composition.
Dr. Matthias first came up with the idea to complete the composition in 2019. He thought it was an appropriate way to celebrate Beethoven's 250th birthday in December 2020. He began by enlisting(招募) an international team of music experts to help him with the giant task. They included music composer Walter and Dr. Ahmed, the creator of an innovative(创新的) AI technology for the art market.
Ahmed and his colleagues started the process by familiarizing the AI software initially with a broad range of classical music, and then, narrowed it to just Beethoven's work. Meanwhile, Walter and his group tried to interpret(解释) the rough drafts and the handful of notes that detailed Beethoven's plans for the 10th Symphony.
The team then began the slow and careful task of feeding the AI software musical notes from the unfinished composition. To stay true to Beethoven's original composition, Ahmed's team sent Walter hundreds of AI-generated(生成的) musical note variations every evening. Walter would listen to them and then select the one that he thought was closest to what the artist would have written. The AI team would add the music and rerun the software to generate the next suggestions. And piece by piece, the team was able to complete Beethoven's 10th Symphony!
The composition was firstly released on October 9, 2021. Not surprisingly, it caused some controversy (争议). Critics believe technology should not be used to replicate the human creative process. Ahmed and his team agree with their opinions and say their AI software is not out to replace humans --- it is just a tool to help artists to express themselves in new ways.
What is the purpose of the writer in writing paragraph 1
A. To voice his greatest respect for Beethoven.
B. To introduce an innovative method to create music.
C. To compare traditional music with AI music.
D. To present the team of music experts’ hard work.
29. Which can be used to best describe the team's work
A. Challenging. B. Steady. C. Horrible. D. Boring.
30. What does the underlined word “replicate" in the last paragraph mean
A. Question. B. Speed. C. Direct. D. Copy.
31. Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A. Beethoven's 10 Symphonies Is Eventually Staged
B. A Team of Experts Conduct a Mission Impossible
C. AI Helps Complete Beethoven's Unfinished Symphony
D. A Controversial Way Successfully Interprets Beethoven's Music

Never play games with a bot(robot)—it will find a way to cheat if it can. A team from OpenAI, an artificial intelligence lab in San Francisco, has developed artificially intelligent bots that taught themselves to cooperate by playing hide-and-seek. The bots also learned how to use basic tools to help them win.
Bowen Baker at Open AI and his colleagues wanted to see if the team-based dynamics of the OpenAI Five could be used to produce skills that could one day be useful to humans.
The researchers set their bots loose in a simulated (模拟的) environment filled with fixed walls, movable boxes and ladders, and left them to play team games of hide-and-seek. The bots each had their own view of the world and couldn’t communicate with each other directly.
At first, the hiders simply ran away. But they soon worked out that the quickest way to stop the seekers was to find objects in the environment to hide themselves from view. The seekers learned that they could move boxes around and use them to climb over walls. The bots then discovered that being a team-player -passing objects to each other or cooperating on a hideout -was the quickest way to win.
But the real surprise came when the bots started making use of problems or faults. Seekers found that if they pushed a ladder towards a wall, they could launch themselves into the air and spot hiders from above. Hiders found that they could get rid of the ladders by pushing them aside.
It shows that AIs are able to find solutions that humans miss, says Baker. “Maybe they’ll even be able to solve problems that humans don’t yet know how to.” However, it is a large leap (跳跃) from virtual hide and seek to real problem-solving. “The main limitation is that it is in simulation,” says Chelsea Finn at Stanford University.
32. Why did Bowen and his colleagues conduct the research
A. To teach bots to play games.
B. To train bots to use basic tools.
C. To find if bots may cheat like humans.
D. To see the potential of robots cooperation.
33. What’s the third paragraph mainly about
A. The tools of the research. B. The design of the research.
C. The competitors of the game. D. The environment of the game.
34. What does the underlined word “It” in the last paragraph refer to
A. Making use of faults. B. Moving boxes around.
C. Passing objects. D. Hiding themselves from view.
35. What does Chelsea think of the finding of the research
A. It can bridge a gap in the AI research.
B. It will not be influenced by the real world.
C. It may not be realized out of the virtual world.
D. It will definitely help the real problem-solving.
