Module 5 Unit 1 《It’s big and light.》教学设计
Part 1:
Analysis of the teaching content. This lesson is from New Standard English of Book 5. It’s Module5 Unit1.The title is《It’s big and light》.This lesson is a dialogue about adjectives. This lesson is look ahead into the future and back into the past. We have learnt such topic in Grade4 M1/M2/M5.Such topic is related to daily life, by observing the features of things, students can choose the right things by themselves. The aim of this lesson is use the adjectives to describe things. And the purpose of this lesson is describe the features of things in our life. So it is helpful to raise learning interests of students and it will be also helpful to improve their spoken English.
Part2:Analysis/of/the/students.
The students has learned English for more than 2 years. They have the basis .They have learnt such topic in the first term of Grade4 .M1U1 She’s a niceteacher.M2UI London is a big city.M2U2 It’s very old.M5U2 They were young. They have life experience. Students are familiar with things in life. They know the features of things, so they can choose the right things by themselves. They are easy to have resonance with the text. They have abilities. The students of Grade5have self-consciousness and cognitive ability. They can work with the teacher. They can listen and repeat, read by themselves, use English sentence patterns in daily life.
They are young and they like chanting, dancing and they like singing. They can understand some words and some simple sentences. The students have taken a great interest in English now.
Part 3:
The teaching aims.
Knowledge aims
Master and use the words: light, umbrella, easy, take. Help the students to use the sentence patterns:
This black bag is nice. It’s big .Look at this blue one. It’s big and light.
Ability aims
1.Use the new sentence patterns to describe and choose things.
2 .Observe life.
Emotional aims
Develop students’ cooperate ability. Be good at observing and thinking, love ourlife.

Teaching aids: Multi-media computer; E-pen, Powerpoint ,word cards.
Part 5 Teaching and studying methods.
Teaching methods:
Five Steps Approach, task-based method, communicated method, group work were used in this period.
Studying ways:Group work ,role play.
Part 6 Teaching procedures.
Step 1 Warm up and lead in.
1.Free talk between teacher and the students.
2.I showed the students a riddle. “It’s big. It’s heavy. It’s gray. It’s got a long nose. What’s it ”
【设计意图】通过师生互致问候和猜谜的游戏,不仅活跃了课堂气氛,而且复习了与本课新知相关的形容词的用法,激活了学生的思维,为新课的学习奠定了良好的基础。
Purpose: This step can give students a relaxed situation and improve their interests in English.
Step 2 Presentation.
After learning this lesson, we’ll describe some pictures. Now let’s learn a chant.
Step 3 New lesson.
(1)In this lesson, after guessing the riddle, I ask students to watch the cartoon ofPart1the first time and circle the new words. Then learn the words “light/hard”. At last, chant with the cartoon.
【设计意图】播放本课第一部分的动画,展示chant的内容,让学生初步感知本课中形容词的用法。
(2)I ask students to listen to the tape the first time, then circle the new words. And learn the new words.
【设计意图】播放本课第二部分的动画,展示本课对话的内容,让学生对课文一个初步的整体的感知。并对新单词有初步的了解。
(2) I ask students to listen to the tape the second time.
And I ask students to fill the blank. Here I divide the whole class in three group.
If they can finish it ,they can get points for their group.
【设计意图】表格内容为本课中三个包的特征,完成表格有利于学生对课文内容的进一步掌握,积分竞争制可以提高学生学习的积极性。(3)The third time, I ask students to listen and repeat. 【设计意图】让学生跟读录音,并在读的过程中注意对学生进行朗读技巧的指导,有利于培养学生良好的语音、语调,使学生养成正确的朗读习惯。
(4)At last ,I ask them to read in different roles and in groups. The students who play in the front of the class will get points for their group.
【设计意图】分角色朗读课文,不仅能激发学生的朗读兴趣,而且能培养学生相互合作能力,积分竞争制可以刺激学生积极参与,大胆尝试。
Step 4 Practise.
I think the most difficult point of this period is to make sure the students can usethe patterns “It’s +adjective” in their daily life correctly. And I will use the multi-media computer to help me achieve the aims.
To accomplish the aims, I design a game:
The rabbit wants to go home. There are three hills. There are some questions behind the hills ,if the students can answer the questions ,the hills will disappear, and the rabbit will run. The question behind the first hill is one point, the question behind the second hill is two points, and the question behind the third hill is three points.
1.The first hill: Read the sentences: This black bag is nice. It’s big.Look at this buleone. It’s big and light.
2.The second hill: Describe some pictures.
3.The third hill:
Fill the task.
Talk about the picture in groups of three, then choose one picture and write a short passage.
【设计意图】到此环节,学生进入了疲倦期,因此我设计了以游戏的形式来完成本课的练习。练习内容是有梯度的:先是简单的读的训练,后是描述图片的说的训练,再是描述物品的写的训练,提高了学生的语言综合运用能力。结合在一开始的学习,本节课中学生的听说读写的能力都得到了练习。本环节中我再次设计了积分竞争制,以此再次推动学生学习的热情。
Step 5 Summary.
Today we have learnt the new words:
Words: light, umbrella,easy, take, and the new sentence patterns “This black bag is nice. It’s big. Look at this blue one. It’s big and light.”
【设计意图】通过总结,再次帮助学生梳理本课的内容,达到加深印象的目的。Step 6 Homework.
Describe your favorite thing and write it down in English.
【设计意图】通过家庭作业的设计,让学生把课堂所学知识应用到现实的生活中去,培养学生学以致用的能力。
