Human beings’ curiosity about outer space hasn’t declined in the past decade, and with Jeff Bezos’ historic commercial flight to the edge of space this past summer, dreamers are that much closer to experiencing the Galaxy for themselves.
It’s reported that one company is aiming to make space a reality for people, and is pioneering a new age of space tourism. In 2019, the California-based company Gateway Foundation first explored the idea. Its dream was to make visiting space, in excellent accommodation, a future vacation choice. The project, now called Voyager Station, is run by Orbital Assembly Corporation, a construction company led by head of the Gateway Foundation and former pilot, John Blincow.
Space tourism draws closer as Orbital Assembly Corporation has announced plans to build the world’s first space hotel named “Voyager Station”, which is expected to open in 2027. With a date in close sight, the hotel’s architects and engineers are hard at work, aiming to design an out-of-this-world experience. They plan to decorate the suites with elegant bars and restaurants with a touch of space, as well as Earth-viewing lounges and unique space food treats. The team is also taking advantage of the reduced gravity that will be felt in the station to plan to let their guests weightlessly carry heavy objects, jump higher or run faster in ways people can’t normally do on Earth.
Gravity will remain in the rooms and bars though because Voyager Station’s scientific design makes it possible by creating artificial gravity within the hotel. The hotel is designed as a wheel that will steadily move and create simulated gravitational force, much like when a glass of water is spun around, the water doesn’t pour out. The hotel’s guests won’t feel much different than being on a huge ship steadily moving.
4.What do we know about the Gateway Foundation
A.It aimed to build a space hotel.

C.Offer recreational activities.
D.Decorate suites more easily.
6.Why does gravity exist in the rooms and bars
A.To prevent liquid from pouring.
B.To make guests feel comfortable.
C.To avoid guests’ travel sickness.
D.To keep things in normal positions.
7.What’s the text mainly about
A.Time for Space Travel.
B.Space tourism gaining popularity.
C.First-ever commercial flight to space.
D.First space hotel set to open in 2027.

Humans have been living and working on the space station for 20 years. Their meals are packaged, though sometimes astronauts receive fresh treats from resupply missions. The longer that packaged food is stored, the more it loses nutrients like vitamin C and vitamin K.
Astronauts have successfully grown 10 different crops on the space station since 2015 and had the chance to sample each one. The International Space Station hosted a party for astronauts on Friday as they celebrated the harvest of the first Chili (辣椒) grown in space. The crew finally had a chance to taste the peppers after initially kicking off the plant experiment on the space station in July.
Plant Habitat-04 is one of the most complex plant experiments on the orbiting laboratory to date because peppers take much longer to grow than the previous experiment plants. After growing for four months, the peppers were harvested on Friday.
Peppers provide a great source of vitamin C, as well as other key nutrients. Pepper plants self-pollinate, so they are easy to grow, and they are a pick-and-eat crop that doesn’t have to be cooked. They are also safe to eat raw.
A side effect of life in zero gravity is that astronauts often lose some of their taste and smell, so spicy or well-seasoned foods are a favorite. Adding fresh greens or peppers to the menu allows astronauts to liven up their regular meals. But growing and tending to the plants can also produce other benefits.
Astronauts have described the joy from seeing—as well as smelling and caring for—leafy green plants on the space station that remind them of Earth.
“Growing colorful vegetables in space can have long-term benefits for physical and psychological health,” said Matt Romeyn, principal investigator for the experiment.” We are discovering that growing plants and vegetables with colors and smells helps to improve astronauts’ well-being.”
8.What does underlined “kicking off” in the 2nd paragraph mean
A.Launch. B.Complete. C.Quit. D.Announce.
9.What makes Plant Habitat-04 one of the most complex plant experiments
A.The technology. B.Growing process.
C.The varieties of plants. D.Growing time required.
10.Why are peppers added to the menu for astronauts
A.They are delicious. B.They restore their appetite.
C.They help kill diseases. D.They improve their memory.
11.What is the suitable title for the text
A.The Fun in the Space Life
B.The Common Goal in the Space Mission
C.The First Chili Peppers Grown in Space
D.A Research Finding from the Space Mission

Interesting Space Facts
As time goes by, technological advancements have made us learn more facts about space in the past century than in all time before that. We’ve already searched the universe for the most amazing space facts, including facts about the planets in our solar system, moons, the Milky Way and beyond! ___12___
The highest mountain discovered is the Olympus Mons, which is located on Mars. It is 16 miles high, making it nearly 3 times higher than Mount Everest.___13___ That’s the size of Arizona !
The sun weighs about 330,000 times more than Earth.___14___ In fact, the sun is so huge that it contains 99.85% of all mass in our solar system.
Footprints left on the moon won’t disappear as there is no wind. But wait a minute.
___15___ Well, it actually wasn’t blowing. That blowing you see is because of a telescopic horizontal rod (望远镜水平杆) that the astronauts were struggling to remove from the flag’s top.
___16___ This is due to the lack of gravity in space causing the vertebrae (椎骨) to expand a little. However, this extra height is lost when they re-enter the earth’s atmosphere and are affected by the earth’s gravity again.
A.We’re pretty sure they will make you interested!
B.New discoveries will no longer be made in the future.
C.It is so large that it can contain about 1,300,000 Earths!
D.Not only is it tall, but it’s 114,000 square meters as well.
E.All these space facts may not be true at the time of writing.
F.Astronauts can grow about two inches in height when in space.
G.If there’s no wind to blow them away, then why is the flag blowing
三、完形填空
It took humans thousands of years to understand our own planet, and centuries ___17___ our neighboring planets. Nowadays, new worlds are being ___18___ every week.
Up to the present time, astronomers have ___19___ more than 370 “exoplanets”—planets orbiting (绕……运动) outer space stars (恒星) other than our sun. There is a “hot Saturn (土星)” 260 light-years from Earth that orbits its parent star so ___20___ that a year there lasts less than three days. ___21___ another star 150 light-years out is a burning “hot Jupiter (木星),” where upper atmosphere (大气层) is being burning to form a huge comet-like tail. Astronomers have found another three ___22___ orbiting a pulsar (脉冲星)—the remains of a once huge star shrinking (收缩) into a small atomic nucleus the ___23___ of a city. Some planets have obviously fallen into their suns. Others have been thrown out of their ___24___ to become “floaters” that float in the darkness of the universe.
Among all these, scientists are eager to find a clue of the ___25___: planets like the Earth. That is, planets orbiting their stars at just the right distance—neither too hot nor too cold—to ____26____ life as we know it. We have not yet found planets that are quite like our own, ____27____ because they’re inconspicuous (不起眼的). To see a planet as ____28____ and slim as ours among the brightness of its star is like trying to see a firefly in a fireworks display. ____29____ by pushing technology to the ____30____, astronomers are rapidly approaching the day when they can find another Earth. And when they do, they can examine it for ____31____ of life.

52.Just at that moment, many memories came back into my mind. When I was ill, she was always the one taking care of me. When I had trouble with my study, she never lost faith in me and encouraged me to keep going. When I arrived home during the weekend, she always prepared my favourite food. All her kindness came back to me. I should be grateful for all she had done for me. I realized that I should return home immediately and say sorry to my mother.
When arriving home, I saw my mother sitting at the dinner table, worried and tired. She must have been looking for me everywhere. I was ready for her anger and shouts. However, before I could apologize, my mother saw me and gently said :“oh, honey, thank God, you’re back! Come inside. You are probably very hungry I cooked your favorite noodles, come and eat while they are still hot...” No longer able to control myself, I cried in her arms. “I ’m sorry, mom, please forgive me.” I whispered to her through tears, extremely ashamed of myself.
